Sphere Tutorial Instrunctions
1. Create a file, with 5 by inches, and 150 resolution
2. Then fill in the white background with color black with the paint bucket tool (G).
3. Next, Make a gray rectangle with the shape tool (U) and then rasterize it.
4. After that you should make 3 circles with the shape tool again(U). Make one circle gray and the other two should be white and then rasterize. Then save
5. This step, you should move the two white circles behind the gray circle. One circle should be moved up a little and the other down. Once you have done this, merge the two white circle layers by clicking on one of them, holding down shift, and click the other circle. Once that has happened, press ctrl E to merge them and then hit delete on your keyboard. If you want to see what you have done, hide the gray circle layer and you will see what you have done. Then save.
6. Now you should move the two white circles layer in front of the gray circle layer. Then rename the two white circles, white outline, and the gray circle, gray circle.
7. Once you have done that, duplicate the gray circle layer 3 times and in order rename them 3, 2, and 1,
8. Click On the 3 layer, fill it in with the color black with the paint bucket tool (G), and then change the opacity to 75% and resize it to a smaler circle. With layer 2, do the same thing as before, but change the opacity to 50% and resize the layer a little bigger than layer 3. On layer 1, do the same thing, but change the opacity to 25% and resize a bit larger than layer 2. Also resize the white outline layer so that it is just inside the gray circle. Then save.
9. Now apply a gaussian blur to every layer except the gray circle, gray rectangle, and the black background. To do this go to filter, blur, and then gaussian blur. On the white outline apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 5. To layer 1 and 2, apply a radius of 10. Then on, layer 3, apply a radius of 15. Then move the white outline layer just above the gray circle. Then save.
10. Then merge all of the layers except the gray rectangle and the black background. First click on the 3 layer, then hold down shift and click on the gray circle layer, and then press ctrl E. Rename the new layer Circle. Once you have done that, reposition the circle so that it is laying on the rectangle.
11. If there is blur around your circle, you can fix that. Select the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and drag the circle shape with the dotted lines over your sphere. Once you have done that, go to select and click on inverse and click delete on your keyboard. That will get rid of all the blur on the circle. Then save.
12. Now to create a shadow for your sphere, just create a long black oval with the shape tool (U) and then rasterize it. Place the oval under the circle layer and apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 5. Next, create a small white circle using the shape tool and place it in the top right corner of the sphere. Then give it a gaussian blur with a radius of 10.
13. For the last step, apply a black to white gradient on the gray rectangle layer, but first don’t forget to select the gray rectangle with the magic wand tool first. Then save. Now apply a black to white gradient on the black background. Click on the black background layer first and then start on the shadow of the circle and then drag it to the top right hand corner of the file. Now your masterpiece has been finished.
Me too! 🙂

Basketball Tutorial
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150
2. Paint the background black
2a. Create a white rectangle at the bottom at the page
3. Using the shape tool, create three circle shapes, 1 orange, and 2 white. DON’T
FORGET TO RASTERIZE!
4. Merge the two white layers together. Select the orange circle with the magic wand
Tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit DELETE to create
An outline. Rename the outline layer “WHITE OUTLINE.
5. Duplicate the orange circle 3 times naming them 3,2,1 in that order in your layers.
6. On layer 3, use the paint bucket tool and fill it in black, change the opacity to 75%, then while still on layer three hit ctrl. T and make your circle smaller in the left hand bottom corner.
7. On layer 2 paint the background black and set the opacity to 50%, then make it outlining layer 3.
8. On layer one fill the background black and set the opacity to 25%, then make that outlining over layer 2.
9. Select the white outline, filter<blur<Gaussian blur<radius of 5
10. Next, to layers 1 and 2(one at a time) filter<blur<Gaussian blur<radius of 10
11. Next, to layer 3, filter<blur<Gaussian blur<radius of 15
12. Merge all of those together except for the white circle at the bottom
Not finished, computer problems, this is all I could do

10.Now select the custom shape tool. Select the circle with nothing in it. Make the ring so it fits around the circle. Put this layer at the top of your layers. Rasterize. Now take the eraser tool and erase the part of the ring that should be behind the sphere.
11.Last but not least, apply a Gaussian blur 2, to your ring layer.

Digital Arts is awesome!
just made for first color sphere!!!
I love sphere making! I have already created an Easter egg and a holiday ornament! It’s amazing how many different things you can do on photoshop!
1. Made three circles.
2. I filled one of my circles in with a color.
3. I made made a bigger circle
4. I made two small circles.
5. i colored my backround
6. i added more color to my ear
7 . i added color to my nose
8. i made its body
9 i finshed it
10. It is a panda now
Tutorial for a snowman-
1) Fill in the background with any color of your choice
2) Use the rectangle tool to make a white rectangle at the bottom of your page to represent snow.
3) Follow the steps of the sphere tutrial Mr.Woolery gave to make a color sphere.
4) Once you have followed the steps and made a color sphere duplicate it 2 times
5) Use the move tool and place the circles on top of eachother to form what looks like a snowman shape
6)Press control T and resize the bottom layer to make it larger, then do the same with the second but leave the top un touched.
(Make sure you are rasterizing your layers along the way)
7) Right now you should have a white rectangle, a background, and a snowman outline on your screen. In your layers rename them part one for the bottom, part 2 for the middle body part, and part three for the head.
8) To make the facial features use the rounded eclipse tool for the eyes (black would be a clasic color to use), rounded rectangle tool for the carrot nose (orange), and the eclpise tool for small circles for the mouth (any color).
9) For the buttons use the rounded eclipse tool and make them any color you want. For a hat accessory use the rectangle tool (make it black) and place it on the head. Then make a smaller square and place that one the rectangle, then merge them in your layers and call them hat.
(Be sure to rasterize!)
10) To make the arms use the rectangle tool and draw a slim straight rectangle. Then go to filter> liquify. this will alow you to move the shape in any way, and give it texture to make it look like a stick. After you have that press ok. If you want several smaller sticks coming out repeat the rectangle and liquify process. Then using the move tool place the branches on the stick where you want.Control T alows you to rotate and resixe your object the way you want. Then in your layers merge them and call them stick.
11) Once you have your arm/stick the way you want duplicate it then rotate and move to the other end of your snowman.
12) Your snowman is complete!
13.) To add texture and a winter feel, go to your white rectangle layer and then filter>liquify to make it eem like snow. If you want you can add snow flakes by going to the custom tool in the U colum and scrolling down to pick a snow flake shape. Then make as many snow flakes as you want, then merge then in your layers (to merge you do contol e).
14) Look! You have a snowman!

1)Create a new 5 by 5, resolution 150 on Photoshop.
2)Use the paint tool to color the background black, and make sure to rasterize all the layers after this step.
3)Make 2 light yellow circles and one orange circle.
4)Put the two light yellow circles behind the orange circle so it appears to have an out line.
5)Merge the two yellow circles and select the orange circle, click on the outline layer and press delete. An outline is created.
6)Duplicate the orange circle 3 times.
7)Color the top copy an even darker orange and then change its opacity to 75% and give it a gaussian blur of 15.
8)Do the same in step seven to the next copy, but change the opacity to 50% and give it a gaussian blur of 5
9)Again do the same to the last copy, but change its opacity of 25% and give it a gaussian blur of 10.
10)Give the original circle a gaussian blur of 5.
11)Resize the the outline so it is inside the circle. Use the marqee tool to surround the circle, turn it on inverse, and press delete to get rid of excess blur. You have a sphere, or in this case a to be planet.
12) Create a redish orange circle behind the circle and give it a gaussian blur of 10.
13)Then create a star like shape using the shape tool behind the circle and cirlcearound it. Give it a radial blur of 50.
14)Merge every layer besides the backround.
15)Add small satr like shapes around and merge them together, seperaate of the planet.
16) You now have a planet in space.
-Cohen Bailey
1. Open new document to 5 inches by 5 inches and 150
2. Color background black
3. use yellow gradiant to make the sun in the corner ( only stretch as long as you want your sun to be remember it cant be so close its going to burn)
4. press “U” and click on the ovale tool.
5. Make two quarter sized balls one alittle biger than the other, it dosnt mater what color right now be sure to rosturize each
6. Useing the wand tool click on the smaller ball make sure your on the right layer
7. Use the gradiant tool from red to orange-red then click “ctrl d”
8. Click on the biger circle layer and use the radical blur around 50
9. Now rename your layers lable the circle that you blured what ever you want and the other circle planet.
10. Now using the brush tool on 100 rough round bristle dab it a round making the stars and remember the stars color and remember to rosturize and name it stars!
11. Now on the planet layer using the same brush on red blotch in the middle of the planet a bit to create the lava or forming planet look make sure that the layers from top to bottom are planet, whatever you named it, stars, background.

3)press control T and re-sise all of the cicles so that each circle is slightly bigger than the one infront.
4) move the circles to the middle of the grey circle.
5) merge all of the layers by pressing shift selecting your layers and clicking control E. do not merge your background.
6) go to filter blur gaussian blur and put a gaussian blur on your circle with a radius of 15.
7) your circle SHOULD be transparent.
8)select the eliptical marque tool and make a circle arround your circle.
9) resize it using control T and move it using the move tool.
10) go to select inverse and hit delete
11)go to your brushes and select brush number 197 wich should look staticky.
12) change the color to whatever you want and click in the middle of your circle.
13) change the color to a different color and click in the middle of your circle again.
14) you can repeet step 13 as many times as you want.
15) make a rectangle at the bottom and make it black or brown.

17) move your circle to the table. you should now see how it is transparent.
18) there you have your Electric Ball!
1. choose a color as your background
2. make 3 big white circles
3. put the biggest circle on the bottom, put the medium circle on top of the big, and fianlly put the smallest circle on top of the medium circle
4. make 2 small circles as the eyes
5. put them on the smallest circle
6. then again make 5 more black circles
7. then make a crown
8. then make a mouth
9. then make arms
10. finally make feet
Sphere Tutorial-
Urgent- Be sure to rasterize all of your layers and save a lot!
1. Create a new file, 5×5, 150 resolutions.
2. Create a gray rectangle on the bottom third of the screen and make the back-round black.
3. Create 3 circles, one gray and two white.
4. Put the gray circle in front of the two others and then move the two white circles behind the gray so they make a white outline.
5. Next, hold shift and click on the two white circle layers, then press, Control E.
6. Click on the layer with the gray circle then select the circle with the magic wand tool, then click on the layer with the white outline and press delete. (To see what you created, click the eye next to the gray circle.)
7. Duplicate the gray circle 3 times and name them, 3, 2, and 1 in that order.
8. Fill 3 in with black, make the opacity 75%, and then resize it to a much smaller circle in the bottom left of the gray circle.
9. Fill 2 in with black, make the opacity 50% and resize it so it is bigger than circle 3, put it in the bottom left of the gray circle.
10. Fill 1 in with black, make the opacity 25% and resize it so it is bigger than circle 2, put it in the bottom left of the gray circle.
11. Now, resize the white outline so it covers the edge of the circle. (Don’t forget to save you work!)
12. Now we need to blur the layers. Go to filter>blur>Gaussian Blur. Make sure you are on the layers because each layer has a specific blur.
13. White Outline= Radius of 5. Circle 3= Radius of 15. Circles 1 and 2= Radius of 10.
14. Now merge the layers: White Outline, Circle 3, Circle 2, Circle 1, and Gray Circle. ( To do so hold shift and click on all those layers and then click, Control E)
15. Rename this new shape Circle or Sphere and then move it so you put it somewhere on the gray rectangle in the bottom third of you screen.
16. Now select the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and create a circle as close to your sphere as you can. Move that new moving line circle over your sphere.
17. Now go up to select>Inverse, then you will press delete. Now press Control D. (Don’t forget to save.)
18. Now create black, oval shape on your gray rectangle. Then move your sphere layer to the top of you layers.
19. Now move the oval so that it looks like it is the sphere’s shadow. Now apply a blur with a radius of 5.
20. Now select your rectangle in the layers, get the magic wand tool, and click on the rectangle. You should now see moving lines around your rectangle.
21. Now apply a gradient of black from the left and white on the right.
22. Make a small, white, circle in the upper right hand corner of your circle. Apply a blur of 5 to it.
23. (Last Step!) Select your back-round layer and apply the same gradient you did to your rectangle going from the bottom left to the top right. Great Job, you are now done!
Do you want to create a beautiful ornament? Follow these simple steps! Helen Kemper 11-22-11
1. After you have created a new file, pick a background color and insert a circle shape. (Fill in with color of your choice.)
2. Duplicate that circle 2 times and make the other two circles white. Place them just above on another and place them behind your main circle in your layers. Then Merge them.
3. Once you have done that, select the magic wand tool and select the main circle. Then click on the white outline in your layer and hit “Delete” on your keyboard.
4. Duplicate the main circle 3 times, and name the circle 1, 2, 3. Make sure they are dark enough, and set the opacity to 75%, 50%, and 25%. Have the darkest one the smallest and in the middle, then get bigger and lighter.
5. Then place the white outline just inside the circle, and blur it to 5 radius. Then you blur 1 and 2 to 10 and blur the 3 to 15. Merge all of your layers.
6. Then decorate your ornament as you choose. Just make sure you rasterize your shapes and constantly merge them to the ornament.
7. Once you are done with that, add a light beam to your ornament by making a white circle and bluring it to a radius of 10. Move it on top of your ornament and convert it.
8. Next, you add a crown to your ornament. Go to shapes tool and select mroe shapes. Once you find the crown, place it on top of the round sphere. (Make sure you rasterize) You may make it look as cool as you like by hitting “Filter” then “texture” (Or going to “Layer” then “Laywer style”)
9. Once you are done with that add a ribbon to hang your ornament! Go to shapes and select a yellow line. Make the weight 3 px. Then insert in from the crown of your ornament to where ever you want to hang it! Then hit CTRL T and right click to “warp”. You can also texturize the ribbon and make it as relistic as possible.
10. Last step is to add a shadow. If the ornament is hanging, don’t put the shadow right below the shape. First go to shapes and insert a black oval. Rasterize! Then blur to a radius of 5 and place it behind the ornament in your layers.
***Look at whatyou have created! A beautiful sphere! Good job!
Sphere Tutorial
1: Create a new file. 5×5, 150 resolution.
2: Using the paint bucket tool, paint the background black.
3: Create a gray rectangle that covers the bottom third of the window.
4: Create a gray circle on the background.
5: Duplicate the gray circle twice.
6: Using the paint bucket tool, color both circles white.
7: In your LAYERS, move the gray circle so it is positioned above both white circles.
8: Now, on your background, move both circles so they are behind the gray one; but make one circle poking out above the gray slightly, and the other one is slightly below.
9: Now press ‘Shift+click’ on both white circles in your LAYERS, and then merge them by pressing ‘Ctrl+E.’
10: Now, click on your gray circle layer, go to the magic wand tool, and select it. Then, go to your layers, click on your white cricles, then press ‘delete’. You won’t see anything happen, but you just turned your circles into an outline.
11: Now, you need to duplicate your GRAY CIRCLE three times, naming them ‘1, 2, & 3.’
12: Now take you layer 3, and color it black using the paint bucket tool. Now, above the layers, you should see a box with a lot of colors in it. Near that there should be a drop down box labeled opacity. Set the opacity for ‘1’ to 75%. Then resize the circle so it fits in the lower left-hand corner of the gray circle.
13: Now take the circle ‘2,’ and color it black with the paint bucket tool. Set the opacity to 50%, and then resize it so it is slightly bigger than ‘1.’
14: Now, take ‘3,’ and color it black like you did with the others. Set the opacity to 25%. Then resize it so it is slightly bigger than ‘2.’
15: Now, go back to ‘1’ and ‘2.’ Apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 10 to each one.
16: Now go to the white outline layer. Apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 5.
17: Now go to ‘3.’ Apply a gradient with a gaussian blur with a radius of 15 to it.
18: Now, merge all the layers except for the gray rectangle and the background. Rename this layer ‘sphere.’
19: Now, move the ‘sphere’ layer so it is positioned on the gray rectangle.
20: Now, use the Elliptical Marquee tool and draw an outline around your sphere. Press ‘Shift+Ctrl+I’ and then press delete.
21: Now, draw a black circle under your sphere. This will be it’s shadow. Apply a gaussian blur to it with a radius of 5 to it.
22. Now you must make a highlight on your sphere. To do this, simply draw a small, white circle on the top right corner of your sphere. Apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 10 to it.
23. Now, apply a gradient to the gray rectangle. The gradient should be light on the right side and dark on the left.
24: Now, the last step. Apply a gradient to your background. This gradient should be light in the top right hand corner of your background and dark in you bottom left hand corner. Now press ‘Ctrl+S’ to save your work. You are done!

2. Using the paint bucket tool fill in the background color black
3. Use the shape tool to create one new circle, don’t forget to rasterize!!!!
4. Use the magic wand tool to select the circle
5. Use the paint bucket tool to fill in the circle color with orange
6. Now use the shape tool to make two small white lines sticking out of the circle on opposite sides
7. Connect those together with a line going through the center of the circle
8. These lines will become the ring around the planet, you may want to rename some layers; Name the circle layer Planet and the line layer ring
9. Now you need to merge every layer except the background and circle layer (Merge- click on one of them and hold down shift and select the other line layers, press control E to merge)
10. Using the history brush tool, change the size of the brush to 3 (Make sure your on the background layer) and do small dots , then change the size to 5 and do slightly bigger dots, scatter them so they don’t look to clumped
11. Now put a Gaussian blur (on the ring layer) with a radius of 0.4
12. Now it should look like a planet!
Sphere Like Shape
1. Open Photoshop and create a new file at 5 by 5 and the resolution at 150.
2. Create three circles: One Blue, two white and rasterize.
3. Move the two white circles under the blue to create and outline and merge (Ctrl E)
4. Create 3 smaller circles and make them black. Name 1, 2 and 3. Put 3 at opacity 75. Then got down by 25 in the opacities for 2 and 1.
5. Then move 3 to the blue circle in the lower left corner and make them smaller and make them grow bigger up to 1.
6. Then apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 10 to 1 and 2. Then apply a Gaussian Blur to 3 and make that 15. Then apply a Gaussian Blur to the White Outline at a radius of 5.
7. Merge all layers
8. Create an oval shape (Black) and add a Gaussian Blur of 5. Then to the same with a small white circle but put it in the upper right hand corner.
9. Do the same with two other spheres and make them red and green.
10. Then bring those three to the middle. Make the red one on top in the left then the green one on the bottom then blue on the right. Move shadows as needed
11. Then merge all layers and warp as you want.
This is how to create the sun!
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution of 150
2. Using the paint bucket tool, change the background to black.
3. Now using the brush tool, create tiny little white dots around the screen representing stars.
4. Using the shape tool, create 3 circles, one yellow, and two white. REMEMBER TO RASTERIZE!
5. Now in your layers, make sure that the two white circles are positioned BEHIND the yellow circle. Move one of the white circles just a little bit up, and the other just a little down. (arrow keys are the easiest way)
6. After that step merge the white circles together and rename “White Outline”. Then select the magic wand tool and click on the yellow circle. At this point the yellow circle should have moving dotted lines moving around it. Now click on the white outline layer and hit delete on the keyboard. Now just look at what you have created!!!! Hide the layer of the gray circle so you can see the outline cut you have just made.
7. Next move the layer of the white cutout in front of your layer of the yellow circle. (In layers)
8. Rename yellow circle layer to YELLOW CIRCLE.
9. Duplicate the yellow circle layer 3 times. Rem=name 1, 2, and 3.
10. Resize opacity like this EACH TIME after you fill in circle to BLACK.
Layer 3-75%
Layer 2- 50% (resize so layer is just a bit larger than layer 3)
Layer 1- 25% (resize so layer is just a bit larger than layer 2)
11. Resize white outline so it fits just inside the yellow circle.
12. Apply gaussian blur to every layer except yellow circle, and black background like this.
White outline(Radius- 5)
1 and 2 (Radius- 10)
3 (Radius- 15)
13. Now merge all the layers except the black background.
14. Rename- SUN
15. Take extra bluring outside off by selecting Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and click and drag a circle shape over your sphere.
16. Select Inverse and click delete.
17. Finally you can move the sun anywhere on your screen.
(If you want you can create more planets or an allen ship)
11 Step Sphere
Nina Payiatis
1.Create a new project, title it Sphere with a width and height of 5, and a resolution of 150.
2.Next, create a rectangle in the lower third of the screen. (U) make sure it takes up the whole bottom third. Rasterize it.
3.Color the background black, and the rectangle gray.
4.Next, create three circles with the shape tool. (U) Color two of the circles white, and leave one gray.
5.Then, position the two white cicrles together so they outline the gray circle. Place the gray circle in front of them. Merge the white circlees together by hitting Shift, then clicking on the two white circles in your layers. Right click, and then hit merge. Rename they layer: White Outline. Select the magic wand tool, click on the gray circle so there are moving lines around it, then select the White Outline in your layers. Hit delete.
6.Now, duplicate the gray circle. (Rename it: Gray Circle.) Duplicate it three times renaming the first 1, the second 2, and the third 3, until in your layers you see them in this order: White Outline, 3,2,1, Gray Circle, Shape 1, Background. (Don’t forget to rasterize!!!)
7.Select 3. Fill it with the color black, and set its opactiy to 75%. Resize it so that it is a small-dime sized shape. Do the same to 2, except set its opactiy to 50% and resize it so it is bigger that 3. Do the same to one, only set its opacity to 25% and make it slightyly bigger than 2. Then, resive White Outline to be a tiny bit smaller than your original gray circle.
8.Now, apply a gaussian blur with a radius of 5 to the white outline. Apply a gaussian blur to 1 and 2, and have their radius be 10. Apply a gaussian blur to 3, and set its radius to be 15. Now, merge White Outline, 3, 2, 1, and Gray Circle. Rename it Circle.
9.Use the Eliptical Marqee tool to outline Circle. Once you have done that, go to “Select” at the top of your screen, select “Inverse”, and hit Delete.
10.Now, create a black oval under the Circle, creating a shadow effect. Rasterize, then create a gaussian blur on it with a radius of 5. Create a mall white circle, creating a highlight effect, place it round the top right of the circle, then, rasterize and give it a gaussian blur with a radius of 10.
11.Now, select the Shape 1, (your gray rectangle) with the magic wand tool. Give it a gradiant, dragging from the left to the right. Then, select the background layer, and give it a gradiant, starting in the bottom left corner and moving up to the top right corner.
LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE! GREAT JOB!!
21 steps to making a fortune teller’s glass ball! DON’T FORGET TO *****RASTERIZE*****
1.) Make a new file 5×5 inches and a resolution of 150
2.) Use the paintbucket tool and choose any dark color of you choice to fill in the background
3.) Using the shape tool make a rectangle at the botton covering about 1/4 of the background
4.) Make a light greenish circle using your shape tools and 2 white circles
5.) Make sure that the green circle is at the top of your layers and postion the white circles behind the green circle just peeking out at the top and bottom.
6.) Once the white circles are in a good position behind the circle click on one of the white circle layers hit SHIFT then click on the remaining white circle layer. Then hit control E to merge the 2 layers into 1.
7.) Now move your white circle layer to the top and rename it “White ‘outline” then make sure the greenish circle is under it and name it ” Green circle”.
8.) Right click on the green circle and a menu will come up. Make a duplicate of the green circle 3 times and name them ” 3 2 1″ in that SAME order!! Your layers should now be white outline on the top, then 3, then 2, then 1, the green circle below those, shape 1, then your background at the bottom.
9.) Now select the layer called “3” and change your color to a slightly darker green than the green color of your circle. Now using the paint bucket fill in the green circle with that color. Don’t worry if the color changes, just hit control T and resize the circle to the bottom left corner of your green circle making a small dark oval like shape in the bottom left of it. Then change the opactity of the layer to 75%.
10. Click the layer “2” and choose another green slightly lighter then the color of layer “3” but not the same color as the original green circle. Do the same as on step 9 by using the paintbucket to fill in the circle then resize the newer circle so it fits just above the dark circle in the left corner, almost looking like a slantwards rainbow. Change the opacity of this to 50% in your layers.
11. Select layer “1” and choose a color lighter than layer “2” but not the same color as the original green circle. Fill in the green circle with the color and then resize the circle to fit just above the layer “2” circle also making it look like a rounded rainbow. Change the opacity to 25% in your layers.
12.)Now click on the white outline layer and hit control T. A box should show up around the white outline, use this to resize the white outline so it fits just inside the green circle. Remember to hit enter after you are down resizing.
13.) Click the white outline layer then scroll to the top and click Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. A little screen should pop up and type in a radius of 5. For layers one and two do the same but add a radius of 10. For layer 3 do the same but add a radius of 15.
14.) By now your sphere should look like a greenish marble. If so, merge ALL the layers EXCEPT for the gray circle.
15.) To make a shadow select the color black and using the shape tool make a black oval next to the green sphere. Make sure in your layers that the black circle layer is behind the green circle so it will appear BEHIND the green circle. Add a guassian blue with a radius of 5.
16.) To make a highlight select the shape tool, the color white, and make a small circle in the top right hand corner of your green circle. Add a guassian blur with a radius of 10.
17.) Now apply a gradient in whatever color you want, but it must be the affect with that color fading into white. Apply this to the rectangle at the bottom and for the background drag the line from the shadow to the upper right hand corner of your project.
18.) This should now look like a normal green sphere, but to make it look like a fortune ball you need to add a stand using your shapes tool and a gold color.
19.) Make sure the stand does not cover up the entire sphere, and place it under it. Move the shadow to where it makes sense!
20.) You can add extra effects like stars using your painbrush tool or candles by using various shapes in your shape tool if you choose to.
21.) Now you should have a crystal ball!
REALISTIC GRASS AND SKY TUTORIAL By Gunnar Nixon
1. Open photoshop
2. Go to “file” “new
3. Name it whatever you want
4. And then set the size to 5”by 5” and the resolution at 150 and then hit ok
5. Find the shape tool and select the square shape
6. At the bottom of your screen make a rectangle that it about 1/3 of your file
7. Then select the paint bucket tool and fill in the square with a dark green color or light if you would like. (Make sure in your layers you have selected the layer named “Shape 1”) and RASTERIZE
8. You should now have two layers, one green rectangle and the white background
9. Click on the “Shape 1” which should still be selected and the go “Filter” at the top of your screen
10. A pop down menu will come up scroll down until you see noise
11. Select Noise and then hit “Add noise” and type in the “amount” box “30%”
12. After you have done this go to filter again and select “Blur” and the Gaussian Blur”
13. Apply a Gaussian blur to “shape 1” with a radius of 0.9
14. Alright it’s starting to look like real grass but it can look a lot more realistic
15. Make sure “shape 1” is still selected, go to filter again, find “stylize” and then select wind
16. Once you are on the “Wind” menu make sure it’s at 100% and then select “stagger”, “From the left”
17. Alright now that looks like grass but there still one more step to the make the grass look awesome
18. Make sure the “shape 1” layer is selected and then select the paint brush tool
19. Then in the top right corner click on the arrow pointing down next to where it says “brush”
20. Scroll down until you find the brush stroke that look like a blade of grass
21. Set the master diameter to about 72.
22. Alright before we use the grass tool make sure in your colors that you have both your foreground and your background to two different shades of green
23. Now, pull the tool along the top edge of your box to give the grass look like it has depth
24. Alright now that we have the grass the rest is easy
25. In your layers select the background layer
26. Now go to the paintbrush tool, right click, and select the gradient tool.
27. Then go to your colors set the foreground as a white and the background as a sky blue
28. Now click and hold on your sky part of the background and drag you mouse from the bottom left to the top right corner
29. That looks sweet but let’s add one more touch to really give it a sky effect
30. Select your paintbrush tool and in the brush drop down menu select the brush that looks like a realistic star NOT THE ONE WITH THE FIVE POINTS!
31. And in the upper right corner click around to give a starry effect
32. Now Behold, A beautiful day.
Plant Making Steps
Digital Arts
Jack Mathis
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150, Name this file Plant
2. Using the Paint Bucket Tool you need to fill in the background with black
3. Once you have done that select the Brush tool and set your color to white, make white dots on the
screen to cover up the entire screen, except for some space in the middle, about the size of a circle
4. Using the shape tool, create three circle shapes, one Blue, and two white. Rasterize
5. Merge the two white layers together. Select the blue circle with the magic wand
tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit the delete button to create
an outline. Rename the outline layer White Outline. Now hide the color layer and you should just the outline. Also move the white outline to the top of your layers
6. Now create three duplicates of that blue circle, name them 1, 2, and 3. Now fill in layer three with black with the paint bucket tool, after that make the opacity 75 and re-shape the circle to fit into the bottom left hand corner of the circle, next do the same to number two but make opacity 50 and make the circle fit a little bit further around the other circle in the corner, repeat these steps once more for circle one but make opacity 25 and resize it to fit outside the other circle, lastly resize the white outline to fit just inside the edges of the circle
7.Now make a Gaussian blur on the white outline with a radius of 5, then for circles one and two do the same but the radius should be ten, Lastly use the Gaussian blur on the third layer and make a radius of 15, after this is done move the circle to the center of the page
8. Once you have don’t these things you need to merge all layers except for the background, rename this circle
9. Now you need to get rid of the extra blur by using the Elliptical Marquee tool and click and a circle over yours, select inverse and press delete
10. Now using the custom shape tool find the shape in the menu that looks like a circle, now place this circle around your plant, and place it on top of the circle, now using the eraser, erase all of the ring that is covering the plant, this should give you the effect that it looks like it is going around the plant
11. Now merge the circle and ring together and rename it plant
12. Last step, double click the layer plant and select the effect called, bevel and emboss, customize it to your liking, when you are done, place it in the middle, this will give you the effect of a plant in space
Grass and sky tuturial
1 . Open Photoshop,
2. Make a new file 5×5 at 150 and name it soccer ball.
3. Make the backgound black.
4. Then made a green rectangle that covers about 1/3 of the page and drag it to the bottom. Rasterrize it.
5.Select the green rectangle in your layers and texturize it.
6. Then selct the grass tool, make sure it is green and black so it makes it look like it is night time. Then cover the green rectangle with the grass.
7. After step 6 it should appear that you are looking up a hill towards the sky.
8. Once that is done seect the balck background.
9.Then go to the star tool and put whitish yellow stars in the sky that have about 15 pixels
10. Make sure to not cover the upper right hand corner, you will need to make a moon hear later.
11. Once that is done make sure to rasterzize all them.
12. Then out a gassian blur on them witha radius of 5.
13. Then move them aound till you think its looks good.
14. Now you will selsct the black background again.
15.You will select the shape toold and make a white circle in the right hand corner.
16. Don’t forget to rasterize the layer.
17. After that you will ned to apply a gassian blur to it with a radius of ten.
18. To make it more realistic put a small black circle in the left handed corner of the moon.
19. Rasterize it and then blur put a qassian blur on it with a radius of five.
How to Make a Moon
1) Open a new file, 5 by 5 inches, with a resolution of 150.
2) Select dark blue as your foreground color and purple as your background color. Select the gradient tool (G) and drag down from the top.
3) Create three circles: one pale yellow, two white. DON”T FORGET TO RASTERIZE! Put them behind your circle around the outside and merge them (Control E), and hit delete on your keyboard (by selecting the pale yellow circle layer, using the magic wand tool, then slecting the white circles and hitting delete).
4) Rename the white outline “white outline” and the yellow circle “yellow circle.” You will duplicate the yellow circle three times, calling them 1, 2 and 3. Fill each of the circle with a darker yellow color (make them all them same color).
5) On layer 1, make the opacity 25% and resize so its just smaller than the yellow circle. On layer 2, the opacity should be 50%, and resized to be a little bit smaller than layer 1. For layer 3, the opacity should be 75% and resized to be smaller than layer 2.
6) Resize the white outline to fit just inside your yellow circle. Blur all of the layers except the yellow circle and background. All should be Gaussian Blur. Radiuses: radius of 5 for the white outline, radius of 10 for layers 1 and 2, and radius of 15 for layer 3. Then move the white outline down in your layers, just above the yellow circle. Next merge layers: 1, 2, 3, white outline, and yellow circle.
7) You can use the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) to drag over your sphere (dotted line should appear) and click Select the Inverse then delete to get rid of any excess blurs.
8) Next you make the craters in the moon. To do this, select a light brown color and the circle shape tool. Make however many ovals like this and various sizes. Be sure to rasterize ALL of the ovals!
9) Next make stars. You make your foreground color white and make however many squares you want (they will later become stars). Again, be sure to rasterize every square layer.
10) Hit Control T to select one of the squares, right click and hit warp. To make it look like a star, pull in all of the sides, not the corners, but the sides.
11) Then apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 5 to the star. Repeat steps 10 and 11 for every star you make and be sure to vary the sizes of the stars. Now look at your moon!
Sphere-like Object Tutorial
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5, resolution 150.
2. Use the Paint Bucket tool (G) after you select a background color, and fill in your first layer
3. Next, go to the Brush Tool (B) then scroll down in the shape column and select the grass shape. Fill the grass in the bottom third of your background
4. Remember: select a DIFFERENT color than your background color when you insert the grass! If you don’t do this then the grass will end up white!!
5. Save your work. Title this document: Tutorial
6. Now, create three circles, two white and one red. DON’T FORGET TO RASTERIZE!!
7. Next, put the red circle at the top of your layers
8. Now, move the two white circles together, and put them under the red circle, so there is a white outline
9. Once you have finished moving the two white circles together, merge the layer to create one white circle.
10. After you have done this you must click on the red circle in your layers, and press W to get the Magic Wand tool. After you see the moving lines on the red circle, click on the white outline in your layers and press delete. If you have done this correctly you will only see a white outline when you hide your red circle. Hit Control D, to deselect the moving lines, and move the white outline to the top of your layers.
11. Rename the two layers, Red Circle and White Outline
12. Now you need to duplicate the red circle. Rename the duplicates 1,2,3 in that order. After you have done that, use the paint bucket to refill layer three. After you have done this reset the Opacity to 75%. Resize the “3” layer. Do the same thing to layers two and three, but reset the Opacity to 50%, then 25% in that order. Remember to resize all layers so the next layer is just a little bigger than the next. Resize the white outline so it fits just inside the red circle.
13. Once you have done this you need to apply a Gaussian Blur to the White Outline, 3, 2, and 1. The White Outline Blur needs to have a radius of 5. The 2 and 1 blur needs to have a radius of 10, and the three blur needs to have a radius of 15. When you have finished this merge the white outline, 3, 2, 1, and the red circle together. Rename the layer Circle
14. Move the merged circle on the ground or “grass”. Use the Marquee Elliptical Tool (M), and then select Inverse to get rid of the blurs around the edge of your circle. Press Control D to get rid of the moving lines.
15. Now you have to create a shadow and highlight for your circle. Go to the shape tool (U) to create a black shadow. Make sure it is behind your circle layer, and once you have resized it the way you want apply another Gaussian blur with a radius of 10. To create a highlight make a small circle shape the color white. Place it on top of you circle and apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of 10. Note: the white highlight has to be on top of your circle layer!! Don’t forget to RASTERIZE these shapes!
16. Now apply a background gradient. The gradient tool is located in the same place the paint bucket tool is. Right click on the tool and select gradient. Apply a gradient that fades from dark blue to white. If your grass disappears after you apply the gradient, just put the grass on top of the gradient!!
17. Finally, after you have applied the gradient to your background, select the brush tool again (B) and in the shape box select the star shape. Recolor it so that it is yellow, and put these stars in the top part of your background
18. Don’t forget to SAVE your work!!
By the way, the smiley face with sunglassess was actually supposed to be and 8 and ), but it changed. Sorry about that!
No worries, Amanda 😉
1. Create A new file (5” X 5” 150) and name it Sphere
2. Use the paint bucket tool (g) and make the background black.
3. Create a gray rectangle (shape tool (U)) that’s about 1/3 of the background (ALWAYS RASTERIZE)
4. Create 3 circles (one gray, two white RASTERIZE) and position those two white circles behind the gray circle so that one is slightly up and one that is slightly down
5. Now merge the two white circles (hold down shift, click on both layers, control E) and click on the gray circle (layer) and select the magic wand tool and click on the gray circle, now select the white circles (layer) and press delete (hide the gray circle! Click on the eye next to the layer!) Viola! You created a white outline.
6. Now make sure the white outline is in FRONT of your gray circle (it would be a good idea to rename your layers)
7. Now duplicate the gray circle 3 times and rename them, in order (in layers) 3,2,1 (MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS OR YOU COULD MESS UP EVERYTHING! No pressure )
8. Now here’s the cool part, on layer 3 fill the circle black, then change the opacity to 75% and resize it so it is in the bottom left corner. Now fill layer 2 with black and change the opacity to 50%, resize it so it’s a little bit larger than layer 3. Now layer 1’s color should also be black and change its opacity to 25%, resize it so it’s larger than layer 2. (you should save at this point)
9. Resize the white outline so it fits just inside the gray circle (you can use the free transform if you want it to be perfect)
10. Now, apply a Gaussian blur to every layer except the gray circle, shape 1 (rectangle), and the background. (white outline: radius of 5, 1 and 2: radius of 10, 3: radius of 15) move the white outline (in layers) so that it sets just above your gray circle.
11. Next, Merge all layers (except shape 1 and the background) and move your sphere to the gray rectangle (like it’s on the ground) *Use the elliptical marquee tool to remove the access blurring. Then go to select>inverse and click delete (keyboard).
12. Now create a shadow under the sphere (RASTERIZE) and apply a Gaussian blur at a radius of 5%
13. Also add a highlight to the sphere (RASTERIZE) and apply a Gaussian blur of a radius of 10%
14. Add a black and white gradient to shape 1 and a black and white gradient to the background. (Lighting counts!)

The ways of the metior
1. The first thing you will do in making a metior is going to photoshop and creating a new file, you can name it metior, make it 5 by 5 and a resolution of 150 and press ok.
2. The next thing you will do is making the backround black, and then make 1 orangeish-brown circle, rasterize it, and cduplicate it twice, two of the circles should be orange and the other one brown…. Make sure they are all rasterized!
3. You will now make the two orange circles go behind the brown circle and make the two orange merge together by going to your layers and click in one of the two, then hold shift and click the other one, then go to either one of them , right click and go to merge layers.
4. You then go to the brown circle and go to the magic wand tool, click the brown circle on the screen, then go to the merged orange circle and click delete, if you click on the eye right next to the brown circle layer, there should only be a black backround and an orange outline. Then reclick the eye to make the brown circle come back into viewThen click Ctrl D.
5. Once you complete this, you must duplicate the brown circle 3 times and make the merged orange layers go to the top The orange layer should then be given a gautian blur radius of 5 and, the next should be an opacity of 75and make it a little bit smaller, and a radius of 15, then 2 should be an opacity 50 and 1 an opacity of 25 and make them a little bigger than 3 and give them a blur of 10.
6. Go to the oliptical marquete tool and make a circle just big enough to go around the circle you have and go to select-inverse and click delete on your keyboard. You will then be finished with the shere so merge all of the layers except the backround and mame it sphere.
7. You will now move the layers to make the spher move to where it will have enough room for flames coming out of the back.
8. You will then go to the brush tool, go and change the brush to the 7th row 3 over to the right and click on that brush to use it.
9. Now you will make the brush be the color of red, yellow, or brown and make some lines changing colors everytime startin from each side until they hit each other.
10. Now that you have finished that, you will make an earch. You will do this by going to the shpere tool again and making it blue.Dont forget to rasterize. Then you will make green splatters all over the circle to make it look like land and make the metior face towards the earth and then you go to the brush tool, go to the stars, and make stars all over the black backround.
How to make a cloud in Photoshop
1) Make a new document titled Clous at 5×5 150.
2) Use the fill tool to fill the background with blue (any shade of blue works).
3) Use the Ellipse Tool to make a white circle or oval.
4) Rasterize the circle or oval.
5) create three new circles or ovals. Make sure that all of the corcles or ovals touch.
6) Rasterise. All layers should be rasterised.
7) Merge all layers except for the background.
8) There should only be two layers. Rename the white one ‘Cloud’
9) Blur layer Cloud with a Gaussian blur with a radious between 8 and 35.
10) Apply a gradient to the backgorund layer. The colors should be the original blue and a light blue-almost white. Apply the gradient from one corner to the opposite corner.
11) This isn’treally a step, but you’re done! Mess around and see what you can do with the cloud.
-Neil FIndley
Digital Arts- Ten step tutorial- Making the Earth
1. Create a 5 by 5 resolution 150 file.
2. Make three circles two white one dark blue “Rasterize these layers.”
3. Line up the two white circles and hold shift and select both of them. The rights click and select merge layers.
4. Drag the blue layer two the top, then duplicate that layer three times. Name them 1 2 and 3, make three lighter than the original circle. Make 2 lighter than 3, and make 1 lighter than 2. Remember to rasterize the layers.
5. Select control T and make three small then do the same to 2 but make it a little bigger. And do the same to 1 but make it a little bigger.
6. Select the white outline layer and go to Gaussian blur and make the white layer 5, the 1 layer 10 and the 2 layer 10, then make the 3 layer 15.
7. Merge all the layers by holding shift and clicking on them, then right click and select merge.
8. Next make a green circle that is about ¼ the size of the “Earth” rasterize the layers then click control T, then right click after that and select warp. Warp it however you want to make it look like a continent. Go to Gaussian blur and choose 10.
9. Make a new layer a very, very tiny blue circle, rasterize this layer. Click control T and right click select warp and warp it however you want it but make it really small. Go to Gaussian blur select 10. This is now a lake on the Earth.
10. Hold shift and select all the layers except for the background, you should have your “Earth” the green shape and the blue shape selected. Merge those layers and name it earth.
11. Select the Earth layer and chose the Marque tool and select the circle then draw it around the outside of your shape then click select and inverse then press delete. Then you’re finished and have the Eart

12. Now, go to the 3 layer and fill it in with the green paint bucket. Adjust the opacity to 75%. Now, resize it so it fits in the corner of your circle. “Control t.”
13. Fill in the 2 layer with green paintbucket and adjust the opacity to 50%. Resize it just a bit larger than the previos circle.
14. Fill in the layer 1 with green paintbucket and adjust the opacity to 25%. Resize it just a bit larger than the previous circle.
15. Under filter, go to blur and give layer 3 a guassian blur with a radius of 5.
16. Give layer 2 a gaussian blur with a radius of 10.
17.Give layer three a guassian blur with a radius of 15.
18. Merge all layers except the ground and the backround layer.
19. Rename the merged layer sphere.
20. Create a rectangle and put it in the center, facing up.
21. Apply the craquelure under artistic with a crack spacing of 27, a crack depth of 10, and a crack brightness of 10.
22. Use the custom shape tool to get a large argile pattern.
23. use the tile tool under texturize.
24. Use another smaller argile set and place it on top of the previous.
25. Apply the grain tool under artistic to the new pattern.
26. Lastly, use the ocean ripple under distort and wrinkle your bush.
27. Press control s and save your work. You’re finished.
1) Open up a new file 5”x5”, resolution 150. Name the file Sphere Necalace.
2) Use the paint bucket tool (G) and fill in the background with the color of your choice.
3) Use the shape tool (U), and create a circle with your choice of color, and then two more circles that are another color. Make sure to rasterize.
**as an example the colors I am going to use are blue and red, but you can choose your own colors**
4) In your layers make sure that the red layer is on top of the blue layers. Now move one of the white circles slightly up, and one of the white circles slightly down (I would use the arrow keys)
*once you have moved the two blue circles behind the red circle merge them (shift>select both layers>Control E to merge). Then select the magic wand tool and click on the gray circle (make sure that you click on the gray circle layer first.) At this point you should see the small dotted selection lines around the gray circle. Now click on the layer with the two blue circles and then hit Delete on your keyboard. Look at what you have just created! Hide the layer of the red circle so that you can see the outilne cut you have just made.
5) Now, move the layer of the blue cutout shape in front of your layer of the gray circle (this should be done in your layers.)
6) Now is a good time to rename you layers red circle and blue outine.
7) Okay, now you are going to duplicate the red layer three times, and re-name each layer “1”, “2”, and “3”.
8) on layer “3” you will fill the circle in with the a color of your choosing (just make sure it is darker than the color of your red circle.) Reset the opasity of the layer to 75%. Size the layer so it fits right in the left corner of the red circle.
9) Fill in layer “2” with the same color and change it’s opacity to 50%. Make layer “2” just bigger than layer “3”.
10) Foll in layer “1” with the same color again and reset the opacity to 25%. Make layer “1” just bigger than layer “2”.
11) Now, lets re-size the “blue outline” layer and fit it just inside the red circle.
12) Now, apply a Filter>Gaussian Blur to every layer, except the red circle and the background layer.
• White outline: blur of 5
• 1 and 2: blur of 10
• 3: blur of 15
13) Now, merge all layers except for the background. To merge select layer “3”, hold shift down, and then click on the “red cirlce” laer, let go, and then click Control E. Rename the new layer cirlce
14) Move the circle layer down so that it is positioned somewhere in the middle of the screen.
15) You may notice that some of the blurred circles come out of the circle shape and into the outside space. Don’ worry. Simply select the Eliptical Marquee tool (M) and click and drag a circle shape (which will have dotted lines) over your sphere. Once you have created a circle over your spher, go to the top of your screen and click on select>Inverse, and click delete on your keyboard. This action will get rid of any excess blurred images that may be outside of your sphere.
16) To put a simple highlight on the sphere, select the shape tool, and using the color white, draw a small circle in the top, right-hand corner of the sphere. Then apply a Gaussian blur of 10 to the circle.
17) Merge the white hghlight and the circle so they stay together where ever you move them.
YOU HAVE SUCESSFULLY FINISHED MAKING THE SPHERE FOR YOUR NECALACE!!!!!!!
18) Now click on your background layer in your layers. Go to the styles tab which is next to Color and Swatches above your layers. Select the style that you think is the most fun pattern.
19) Use the shape and paint tools, or any other tools you know, to create and type of design you could want on the necklace. For example, I made a smiley face.
20) Merge all of the layers that are on your necklace so they stay with the necklace when you move it.
21) Use the shape tool (select the line tool) and create two lines to use as your chains. You can pick the thickness of the change. Don’t forget to rasterize.
22) Merge the chains with the necklace so they stay together!! YOU HAVE SUCESSFULLY MADE YOUR VERY OWN SPHERE NECALACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry! My eighth step turned into a smiley face! I’m not really sure why, but that is what it did! Sorry! 😦

How to Make:
Lime Green Ice-Cream
Create a new file on Photo Shop 5×5 at 150
Create a sphere using the following instructions from the Mariemont Junior High School Digital Arts Blog- Sphere Tutorial-1Sphere Tutorial-2Sphere Tutorial-3Sphere Tutorial-4Sphere Tutorial-5
***NOTE***THE GREY CIRCLE SHOULD BE GREEN (step 4) AND WHEN CHANGING THE OPACITY AND SIZE OF THE COPIED CIRCLES MAKE THE COLOR A DARK GREEN, NOT BLACK (steps 9 through 11)
Next once your lime green sphere is created make to copies of the sphere and rename them “ice-cream 1, ice-cream 2, and ice-cream 3”
Then create a light tan rectangle (rasterize it) and click ctrl (and then) t
Next right click on the rectangle, select distort and drag the boxes at the bottom right and left sides into the bottom middle of the rectangle to create a triangle.
After that step select the line tool (u) and draw black lines from one side to the other creating x’s like on a real ice-cream cone.
Now make sure the cone layer is in front of all the other layers and drag the ice cream layers onto slightly bellow the cones top edge.
Once you complete this step combine all the layers by shift clicking on all your layers (except from your background layer) then you have your ice cream.
However you are not done just yet. You need to apply a striped gradient to your background so select the background layer and press g to get to the gradient tool. Then select the gradient editor under the top options “edit, image, and layer” . After that select transparent stripes. ***MAKE SURE THE COLOR OF THE STRIPES YOU WANT ARE IN THE FOREGROUND COLOR/BACKGROUND COLOR*** After that click, drag release and you have your gradient.
Finally you are done here is what your final copy should resemble-

How to make a Sphere
By:Hanna
Go to Photoshop and create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150.
2. Using the paint bucket tool (G) and create a black background.
3. Then using the shape tool (U) create three circles one gray and the other two white place this above the rectangle, and a rectangle and place it on 1/3 of the page. You need to rasterize these layers.
4. Place both white circles behind the gray circle and move one up a little and the other down a little. After you have placed them behind the gray circle you need to merge the two white circles using shift. Hold shift down choosing the two white circles, right click and hit merge. Do not merge the gray circle yet!
5. Using the magic wand tool click on the gray circle, make sure you are on the right layer. You will see moving lines around the circle, once you do go to the layer with the white circle and HIT DELETE. You may hide the gray circle and see what you have created.
6. Go to your gray circle and duplicate it three times. It should go 3, 2, 1, gray circle. Once you have duplicated the gray circle go to layer 3 and fill the circle in with black. Reset the Opacity to 75% and then resize you shape to the bottom left hand corner.
7. Go to layer 2 fill it in with black, reset the opacity to 50% and then resize the circle to left hand corner, but make you resize it just a little bigger than the first one. After you have done that go to layer 1 fill it in with black, change the opacity to 25% and resize it just a bit bigger than the second circle.
8. Now apply a blur to your circles. Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur to each layer except the gray circle, your rectangle and the background.
• White outline ( Gaussian blur: Radius: 5)
• 1 and 2 (Gaussian blur: Radius: 10)
• 3 (Gaussian blur: Radius: 15)
9. Now merge the layers together.
10. And you have a sphere.
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150
2. Using the shape tool, create three circle shapes, one green, and two white. Also create a green rectangle. DON’T FORGET TO RASTERIZE!
3. Merge the two white layers together. Select the green circle with the magic wand
tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit DELETE to create
an outline. Rename the outline layer “WHITE OUTLINE.”
4. Now, copy the green circle three times. Rename these layers ‘1’, ‘2’, and ‘3’.
5. On layer ‘3’, fill with the color black, with an opacity of 75%. Resize that layer to the size of your liking. Place it over the green circle.
6. Fill in layer ‘2’ with black, with an opacity of 50% and resize it to be a little bit bigger than layer ‘3’. Place it over the green circle as well.
7.Fill in ‘1’ with black with an opacity of 25%. Resize it to be bigger than layer ‘2’. Place it over the green circle as well.
8. Now, apply a Gaussian blur on each layer. On ‘White Outline’ make a blur of 5. On layer ‘3’ make a blur of 15. On ‘1’ and ‘2’ apply a blur of 10.
9. Merge all the layers together except for the rectangle, and the background. Retitle this layer, Green Sphere.
10. Using the elliptical marquee tool, make a circle around the sphere. Select ‘select’ at the top of your screen, ‘inverse’, then press delete on your keyboard.
11. Using the shape tool, create a black oval/circle under your sphere. Name this layer, ‘shadow’. Give the shadow a blur of 5.(rasterize first)
12. Now create a small white circle on the corner of the sphere. Name it ‘highlight’. Apply a blur of 5.
13. Select the rectangle layer with the Magic wand tool. Apply a gradient from black to white.(horizontal)
14. Select the background with magic wand. Apply another gradient going diagonally.
To Make A Cat Head 😉
Step 1 Make a new document with 150 resalution and a width of 5 and a lenghth of 5.
Step 2 Calor the back round anything you would like.
Step 3 go to lesson archive and use the sphere totorials to make a sphere but do not make the ground, shadow, or high light.
Step 4 once you are done with the sphere create 2 triangle by using the line tool.
Step 5 now rasterize them and calor them the calor of you sphere and place them on top of the sphere you have just made the ears.
Step 6 Make a copy of both ears.
Step 7 make both copys pink and shrink them the size of the sphere.
Step 8 Make the last triangle you need and turn it upside down and put it near the center of the sphere you have just made the nose.
Step 9 Make 2 green circles and put the above the nose.
step 10 make 2 more black circles and place them in the center of the eyes.you have just made a cat head!
Sphere Tutorial
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150.
2. Fill the back ground with a color you want, in this case we will do red. Then make a rectangle shape and make it blue, RASTERIZE!
3. Using the shape tool, U, make three circles, 2 white, 1 red. RASTERIZE! After you do this, move the white circles behind the red one.
4. Merge the two white layers together. Select the red circle with the magic wand tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit DELETE to create an outline. Rename the outline layer “WHITE OUTLINE.” Then rename the red circle, “RED CIRCLE.”
5. Duplicate the red circle layer 3 times and rename the first duplicate, 3, the next, 2, the last duplicate, 1. Once you are finished with that fill all of the duplicate circles with the color, DARK RED. It must be darker than the red circle layer.
6. Fill layer 3, with the opacity of 75%. Resize it and move it in the bottom left hand corner of the red circle. Fill layer 2, with the opacity of 50%. Resize it to fit just bigger than the circle 3. Fill layer 1, with the opacity of 25%. Resize it to fit just bigger than the circle 2.
7. Now apply a FILTER>BLUR>GAUSSIAN BLUR>radius settings for each layer:
WHITE OUTLINE- radius of 5
3- radius of 15
1 & 2- radius of 10
8. Now merge all of the layers together, (CONTROL E), except for the SHAPE 1, and the BACKROUND. Rename the layer CIRCLE. Now move the Layer CIRCLE, on the blue rectangle, SHAPE 1, so it looks like it is on the ground.
9. Using the Eliptical Marquee Circle Tool, make a circle on the sphere and up on your toolbar click on, SELECT>INVERSE, and click on DELETE on your key board. Make a black oval, with a GAUSSIAN BLUR with a radius of 5. Put the oval under the circle so it is a shadow. Name the layer OVAL and Rasterize It.
10. Make a white circle with a GAUSSIAN BLUR of 10 and put it in the top right corner of the sphere and name the White Circle HIGHLIGHT.
11. FINAL TWO STEPS! Apply a gradient on SHAPE 1, and on the BACKROUND. You are finished with the sphere. WELL DONE!
Planet Tutorial
1) Apply a gradient to the background. Your foreground color will be an almost-black navy blue, and the background color will be the same color, just a little bit lighter.
2) Create three circles- one is the color of your choice (make sure it’s not too dark) and the other two white. Don’t forget to rasterize! Arrange the white circles behind the colored circle so that one is just above it and the other is just below. Merge the two white layers.
3) Using the magic wand tool (make sure you have the circle layer selected) click on the colored circle. Now, in your layers, click on the white outline and hit delete. You may now move the circle layer under the outline layer again.
4) Duplicate the circle layer three times, naming them “1”, “2”, and “3” (from top to bottom) Fill in layer “3” with a much darker version of your colored circle, and change the opacity level to 75%. Resize it so if fits in the bottom left corner of the circle. Fill in layer “2” with the same color and set the opacity level to 50%. Resize so it’s just a bit larger than layer “3”. Fill in layer “1” with the same color and set the opacity level 25%. Resize it so it’s a little bigger than layer “2”. Lastly, resize the white outline so that it fits just inside the original circle.
5) Apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of ten to the white outline (you don’t want the outline too strong since the background is so dark). Give layer “3” a blur of 15, and layers “1” and “2” a blur of 10.
6) Merge ALL layers except your background.
7) Using the elliptical marquee tool, cut out any blur that is outside of the outline you desire.
8) Create a highlight for the sphere by making a white circle in the upper right corner of the sphere. Apply a Gaussian blur of 15.
9) Now, using custom shapes, select the circular outline shape and create the shape. The size should fit in the middle third of the sphere. It can be any color, but will go best if it is similar to the sphere.
10) Using the smudge tool, smudge out the part of the shape that should not show (it should look like it’s going behind the planet, like the rings of Saturn). Merge the sphere, the highlight, and the ring together.
11) Using custom shapes again, create very small stars all over the rest of the background. You can make them any size and any color.
12) For the last step, add a Gaussian blur with a radius of anywhere from 5 to 10.
Ice cream in a bowl
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150. Name it Sphere
2. Using the shape tool, create three circle shapes, one mint, and two white. DON’T
FORGET TO RASTERIZE!
3. Merge the two white layers together. Select the mint circle with the magic wand tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit DELETE to create an outline. Rename the outline layer white outline.
4. Now duplicate the mint circles so there are 3. Call them 3, 2, and 1 in that order.
5. Now make circle 3 dark mint and resize it to be in between 6 and 9 o’clock on a clock.
6. Do the same with 2 and 1 except for make it a tiny bit lighter mint than the one before and resize to circle to make the circle a little bit bigger than the one before
7. Resize the white out line layer so it is now inside the sphere
8. Now add blurs to all layer except for mint circle the original.
• 3 is Gaussian blur radius 15
• 2 and 1 radius of 10
• and white outline radius of 5
9. Now merge all layers. Rename sphere
10. You the elliptical tool put it around the circle and click inverse then delete.
11. Add a white highlight with a radius of ten and Gaussian blur
12. Then warp a circle into a bowl
13. Then duplicate your sphere 2 times
14. Put spheres into bowl then make a cool background.
Sunset over the Ocean Tutorial
Ellie Kapcar
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150
2. Use the shape tool to create a rectangle stretching along the bottom 1/3 of the page. DON’T FORGET TO RASTERIZE!!!
3. Use the gradient tool and apply a gradient to this shape going from blue (at the top) to a yellowish brown color (at the bottom)
4. Now, use the shape tool to create 3 circles. Two should be red and one should be white.
5. Make sure you have rasterized all of your layers before you proceed!!!
6. Place the white circle at the top of your layers and move it in front of both red circles
7. The red circles should be almost overlapping each other but make sure it looks like an outline around the white circle
8. Now merge these two red circles using Ctrl E
9. Once the layers are merged, use the magic wand tool to select the white circle
10. Go back to the merged red circle in your layers and click “delete”
11. Now you have the outline for the sunset!
12. Re-size the red outline so it fits just inside of the white circle
13. Now duplicate the white circle three times.
14. Name your layers “3, 2, & 1” and make sure 3 is at the top of your layers
15. Fill each circle in with orange
16. Re-size the circles so that 3 is the smallest and that it is in the bottom left corner.
17. 2 should be slightly bigger, and same with 1.
18. Change the opacity of 3 to 75%, 2 to 50%, and 1 to 25%.
19. Now on each layer (EXCEPT FOR THE RED OUTLINE), apply a radial blur, amount 10
20. Apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 10 to the red outline layer
21. Merge all your layers EXCEPT for the background and shape 1
22. Now click on the shape 1 layer and go to Filter -> Liquify
23. Play around with it and make it look like an ocean
24. Almost finished! Now apply a rainbow gradient to the background to make it look like a sunset
25. Finally, position your “sun”/sphere so it looks like it is in the sky
How To Make The Planet Neptune
1. Create a new file that has a 5in. by 5in. and a resolution of 150.
2. Now use the paint bucket tool to create a dark blue background. Then you create two white circles and one blue circle. You need to rasterize!
3. Position the two white circles behind the blue circle with the move tool. Now merge the two white circles together and rename it white outline, while you are at it rename the blue circle (which at this point should be named “shape one”) and give it the name “blue circle”
4. Now click on the “blue circle” layer. Use the magic wand tool to select your blue circle. Now click on the white outline and hit DELETE. Now you can click on the eye that is on the left of the white outline layer to see what you have created.
5. Now move the “white outline” to the top of your layers. Next, you duplicate the “blue circle” three times; rename them “1”, “2” and “3”. Use the move to spread them out.
6. Take circle “3” and use the paint bucket tool to make it dark blue. Set the opacity to 75% and resize it to fit in the bottom left hand corner of the “blue circle”.
7. Now, you repeat step 6 with “2”, but change the opacity to 50%, make it a tad lighter blue and resized it so it sits just outside of “3”.
8. For this step you will need to repeat step 6 to the circle named “1”. Change the opacity to 25% and resize it to the outside of circle “2”.
9. Next, we will be working with blurs. You give the white outline a Gaussian blur of 5, circle “1” and “2” Gaussian blurs with the radius of 10 and circle “3” gets the Gaussian blur of 15. SAVE YOUR WORK! Move your white outline under circle “1”,”2” and “3”.
10. Now, merge all everything except the background. To merge you click on your layer then hold SHIFT down and click on the other layers. Left click and press merge.
11. Now go to the Elliptical Marquee tool and draw a circle. Use the arrow keys to position the shape over your circle. Go to INVERSE at the top of your screen and choose inverse. Now press DELETE.
12. Now go to the Brush tool and choose stars. Add stars around your planet! SAVE. You are now done with your planet!
Planet Tutorial
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5, resolution: 150

3. Merge the two white layers together. Select the blue circle with the magic wand tool and then click on the layer of the two white circles. Hit delete to create an outline. Rename the layer white outline.
4. Create three more blue circles, easiest way is to create these circles is to duplicate the blue circle three times by right-clicking the blue circle in your layers.
5. Change the opacity and the size on each one getting bigger towards the top. Apply a Gaussian blur on each:
White Outline: 15
1 and 2: 5
3: 10
6. Merge all of the layers including the white outline
7. Create a green oval
8. Use the elliptical marquee tool and take out the center of the oval.
9. Select the planet and then the eraser tool and erase all of the oval that is over the sphere
10. Adjust the ring is it is more eye level
11. Finally! Your planet!!
Digital Arts In-Class Assignment
*NOTE- Hit CONTROL+S after each step. This will automatically save your work.*
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 at 150.
2. Using the PAINT BUCKET tool, fill the background with a light blue color.
3. Create a green rectangle that covers about 1/3 of the square. Then create 3 circles, 1 yellow 2 white. Don’t forget to rasterize!!!
4. Move the two white circles on top of each other, but make sure that you can still see both. MERGE the two white circles together and RE-NAME the new shape “Outline”. Then in your layers, DRAG the yellow circle layer to the top of what should now be 5 layers.
5. Click on the layer of the yellow circle. Then, using the MAGIC WAQND tool, click on the actual yellow circle. Once there are moving lines around your yellow circle, click on the LAYER of your outline and press DELETE.
6. Now DUPLICATE your yellow circle layer three times. RE-NAME them from top to bottom in this order: 3, 2, 1. THIS IS VITAL TO LATER STEPS.
7. Switch your foreground color to a dark orange, but NOT brown.
8. Click on layer 3. Fill it with the color of orange you have just chosen, then, CHANGE its OPACITY to 75%. Give it a GAUSSIAN BLUR with a radius of 15. RE-SIZE this layer so that it fills up a small amount of space in the bottom left-hand corner.
9. Click on layer 2. Fill it with the orange color again. CHANGE its OPACITY to 50%. Give it a GAUSSIAN BLUR with a radius of 10. RE-SIZE this layer to just a bit larger than layer 3, still in the bottom left-hand corner.
10. Click on layer 1. And again, fill it with the orange color. CHANGE its OPACITY to 25%. Apply a GAUSSIAN BLUR with a radius of 10. RE-SIZE this so that it is a bit larger than 2, but not as big as the yellow circle.
11. Merge together the following layers: yellow circle, white outline, and your 3 new circles.
12. Now, make a BLACK OVAL inside the yellow circle. DUPLICATE this one time, and move it horizontally to the right so that it is still in the sphere you have just created. In your layers, merge these two shapes together.
13. Using the PAINT BRUSH tool, create a “U” shape, but make it wider, so it looks like a smile.
14. Now, using the SHAPE tool, make a small WHITE circle at the top of your yellow sphere. Apply a GAUSSIAN BLUR with a radius of 5.
15. Now, apply a GRADIENT on the background layer. You NEED to drag your line from the top left-hand corner to where you put that little white circle, then and only then do you let go. The gradient should start white in the top left-hand corner, and end blue in the bottom right-hand corner.
Bird Tutorial
Chris Taylor
1. Refer to the sphere tutorial and create a sphere.
2. Then duplicate your sphere ONE time. Now you should have two circles. Position one of the circles on top of the other.
3. Now take the smudge tool and create wings on the circle on bottom. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE CORRECT LAYER!!!!!
4. After that take the smudge tool again and make legs on the circle on the bottom. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE CORRECT LAYER!!!!
5. Now merge the two circles together. Once you have done that, get out your smudge tool and make a beak on the layers you just merged. You may add yellow to the beak if you want to make it more beak like.
6. Now that your have made you bird lets add some texture.
7. Click on the background layer and go to Filter>Texture>Stained Glass.
8. Now click on your layer of your bird and go to filter>Texture>Texturizer
9. Now add a lighting effect on the rectangle go to filter>Render>Lighting Effect, and position it however you want.
10. Good job! You’re done! Now you have a bird like shape!!
Sphere tutorial- Jonathan Grissom
1. Start a new file with a resolution 150, 5 by 5.
2. Draw a rectangle in the bottom third part of your file. It can be any color you like. Be sure Rasterize
3. Create three new circles. Two white, one any color you like. Rasterize.
4. Move the two white circles behind the colored one so that one is higher than the sphere and one is lower than the sphere.
5. Merge the two white circles together by pressing Ctrl-E. Rename this White Outline.
6. Click on the colored circle layer. Select the magic wand tool. Click on the circle and then switch layers to the outline layer. Press Delete.
7. Now, you must select a darker shade of the color you selected earlier. Duplicate the circle layer and make it the new shade 3 times. Name one of them 1, then 2, then the last one 3. Make three below the white outline. Next, two. Then, one.
8. Make three the smallest one and in the bottom left corner. Set the opacity to 75%. Do the same things with two and one but a little bit bigger each time. Set #2’s opacity to 50%. Set #1’s to 25%.
9. Now make the white outline layer smaller and inside the other circle. Apply a Gaussian Blur at a radius of 5. Then make a Gaussian Blur on Layers 3, 2, 1. 3=15. 2=10. 1=10
10. Now you want to merge layers 3, 2, 1, White outline, and color circle. Name this circle.
11. The last two parts are to make the gradients in the background and on the rectangle. You can use any colors you like.
1. Create a file, with 5 by 5 inches, and 150 resolution
2. After that, fill in the white background black with the paint bucket tool (G).
3. Next, Make a gray rectangle with the shape tool (U) and then rasterize it.
4. After that you should make 3 circles with the shape tool again(U). Make one circle gray and the other two should be white and then rasterize. Then save your work.
5. Now, you should move the two white circles behind the gray circle. One circle should be moved up a little and the other down. Once you have done this, merge the two white circle layers by clicking on one of them, holding down shift, and click the other circle. Once that has happened, press ctrl e to merge them and then hit delete on your keyboard. If you want to see what you have done, hide the gray circle in your layers, then save your work.
6. Now you should move the two white circles layer in front of the gray circle layer. Then rename the two white circles, white outline, and the gray circle.
7. Once you have done that, duplicate the gray circle layer 3 times and in order rename them 1, 2,and 3.
8. Click On the# 3 layer, fill it in with the color black with the paint bucket tool (G), and then change the opacity to 75% and resize it to a smaller circle. With layer 2, do the same thing as before, but change the opacity to 50% and resize the layer a little smaller than layer 3. On layer 1, do the same thing, but change the opacity to 25% and resize a bit smaller than layer 2. Also, resize the white outline layer so that it is just inside the gray circle. Then save.
Then save.
10. Then merge all of the layers like before. Once you have done that, reposition the circle so that it is laying on the rectangle. Edit your blur, select elliptical maqueet tool, position it then select inverse and delete! and apply a gradient to your shape 1 and background. You are now done!!!

2: Using the shape (U) tool , make a rectangle that covers 1/3 of the page and color that black and color the other 2/3 of the page, orange.
3: create 3 football shaped objects using the shape(U) tool , and color one of them brown and the others white. ( Don’t forget to save and rasterize each layer) Name your brown football “ Gray Circle”
4: Place the two white footballs behind the brown football , one white football should be a little higher than the brown football and the other white football should be a little lower than the brown football.
5: merge the two white footballs together using Control E (merge) and title them “white outline” and make sure the brown football is the top layer in your layers.
6: Now duplicate the brown football 3 times and title those layers “1,2,3” (Rasterize and save)
7: Fill the layer “3” black and set the opacity to 75% and make it cover the bottom 4th of the football.
8: Fill the layer”2” with black and set the opacity to 50% and make it just bigger than the layer “3” football.
9: Fill the layer “1” with black and set the opacity to 25% and make that just bigger than layer “2”
10: Resize the “white outline” to fit just inside the football.
11: add a Gaussian blur to the white outline , Radius :5
12: Add a Gaussian blur to “1” and “2” with a radius of 10.
13: add a Gaussian blur to “3” with a radius of 15.
14: now move the “White Outline” down in your layers below “1, 2, 3”. And merge all of your layers except for your shape 1 , gray circle and background layer. Merge using Control E.
15:Positon to football on the line that divided the black and orange.
16: Use the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and put it over your football. ( Or use the Magic Wand Tool )
17: Now select SelectInverse and Click Delete on your keyboard.
18: Now create a shadow for your football by using the Shape Tool (U) and color it brown with a Gaussian Blur radius of 5. ( don’t forget to rasterize)
19: Now put a white circle in the corner of your football (Don’t forget to Rasterize ) and apply a Gaussian Blur with a Radius of 10.
20: Last step is to apply a gradient of black to white on your shape 1 , click on shape one using your Magic wand Tool and apply the gradient.
21: Now apply an orange to white gradient on your background.
22: And now you have your pigskin.
1. Create new 5 by 5 resolution 150 (color this black)
2. Then create three new circles all the same size. One red the other 2 white. DO NOT FORGET TO RASTERIZE.
3. Position the white circles behind the red one( make sure they are below the blue one in your layers) Make the white circle poke out of the red one a little at the top and sides of the red one.
4. OK now go to your layers and select one of the white circles then hold down the shift button and select the other white circle this should highlight both in blue after they are both blue hold down Ctrl and e at the same time and this should merge the two shapes together
5. Now press the W button on your keyboard to select the magic wand tool select (make sure in your layers the red circle is highlighted in blue) and select the red circle with the magic want tool. Then once the red circle in selected in your layers select the white merged circles so that they are highlighted with blue and press delete on your key board. Name this new shape white outline in your layers.
6. Now make three duplicates of the red circle. Name them 1, 2, and 3.
Make 3s opacity to 75% and change the size to be smaller and be inside the red circle.
Make 2s opacity to 50% and change the size to a little bigger than three and put it in side the red circle.
Now make 1s opacity 25% and change the size to a little bigger than 2 and put it inside of the red circle.
You should come out with something like this
7. Now apply blurs to 1, 2, 3, and white outline
• 3= radius of 15
• 1,2= radius of 10
• White outline= radius of 5
8. Fit the white outline so it fit right inside of the red circle and merge the shape
9. Now click on the second tool down on the tool bar the Elliptical Marquee tool and drag a circle that fits directly over the red sphere like object and look at the top of your screen click on select then inverse and hit delete on your key board Then create a little white circle and place it in the top right-hand corner of your sphere and put blur of 5
10. Now click on your keyboard Ctrl T and right click on the sphere and click on warp then warp your shape so that it looks like an apple type shape
11. After that add a rectangle that is brown with blur a radius of 5 then a leaf which you can find in the shape tool and more shapes then nature once you have done that the finished product should look like an apple!
Step 1 Create a New file 5 by 5 resolution 150 and change the background to black and create a gray rectangle at the bottom third.
2. using the shape tool create 3 circles one blue two white DO NOT FORGET TO RATERIZE
3. Merge the two white circles. Select the blue circle and with the magic wand select the blue circle. Then click on the white circle layer and hit delete after that change the name to white outline.
4. Duplicate the blue circle 3 time and name the circles 1 2 3 then turn them black using the paint bucket tool.
5. First select the first duplicated layer and resize it so it fits in the bottom left corner. Set the opacity to 75%. Then select the second layer and resize the layer to just above the first layer. Then set the opacity to 50 percent. Select the third layer and resize it to a little bigger than the last 1.
6. Apply a gausin blur of 15 to the smallest layer. Then apply a gausin blur of ten to the other layers. Put a gausin blur of 3 to the white outline. Merge all of the layers that make up the sphere and put it on the gray rectangle.
7. Select the move tool and then hit ctrl t then left click and warp the sphere and to look like a rocket.
8. Move the rocket to the middle of the gray rectangle and hit ctrl s.
9. Select the gradient tool and make your colors blue then white
10. Select the gray rectangle layer using the magic wand tool. The hit ctrl d and apply the gradient to the background and behold the rocket Flames at the bottom are optional.
1. Create a green sphere and a grey one
2. Apply a white blue gradient to the backround
3. First, use the warp tool to alter the appearance of the green circle create to humps in the fromt and elongate the whole thing
4. Now position the white circle so the highlight is facing the left, use the rotate tool (Ctrl T)
5. Create a green circle and bevel and emboss it. Warp it so it covers the northeast part of it.
6. Make another green oval and do the same thing, move it beneath the frog in layers and elongate it.
7. Draw a blue rectangle just below the larger circle. Apply a wave to it. Under filter.
8. Apply a cloud brush with a master diameter of 139
9. Apply a Molecular texture 276 on the larger oval.
10. Create an oval, then create a wave with the vertical scale bar at 31% then apply a guasian blur of 5, size it and move it as you need.
You’ve made a frog!
A Bouncy Ball in the Field
Madison Telgkamp
1.Make sure to create a new file 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150.
2.You then change the background to any color you would like. After that select the shape tool. Make sure you have the rectangle tool selected. When you have the tool selected make sure the color is now changed to a color of your choice (MUST BE DIFFERENT FROM THE BACKGROUND COLOR I am using green in this tutorial). Then you place a rectangle on the bottom third of your screen.
3.Then you must make three circles (make one circle then go to your layers and duplicate that circle twice). You then make one circle a color for instance red and you make the other two another color for instance yellow.
4.After you have your three circles you now move the red circle so it is in a good spot for you (you will move it later again). Then take one of the yellow circles and position it behind the red circle so that a part of it hangs above or below the red circle. You then take the second yellow sphere and place it above or below the red circle so that part of it hangs out (this should look like the red circle is highlighted in yellow).
5.You can now merge the two yellow circles naming the “Yellow Outline” in your layers and hit the “Ctrl” button and the ”s” button to save your work so far. Once you have done that select the magic wand tool and click on the red circle. Then click on the “Yellow Outline in your layers and click the delete button on your keyboard. To see what you have created hide the red circle shape.
6.Now you duplicate the red circle 3 times renaming the 1, 2, and 3 (be sure to have them in your layers go “Yellow Outline”, “3”, “2”, “1”, and “Red Circle”). Take a DARCK color of the original color of your sphere (in this case red). You the click on layer “3” and reset the opacity to 75% and resize (resize is control t) so that the circle is smaller and in the bottom left hand corner. Then select layer “2” and fill it in with a dark red and change the opacity to 50%. You then resize layer “2” so that it’s a little bigger than layer “3”. And lastly you select layer “1” and color it in with the same dark red and change the opacity to 25%. You then resize this shape so that it’s a little bigger than layer “2”. You then select layer “Yellow Outline and resize it so that it fits just inside the “Red Circle Layer”. MAKE SURE TO SAVE!!!!!!!!!!
7.Now it’s time for all of the blurs. You must select the “Yellow Outline” layer then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian> and type a radius of 5 for this particular layer. You then Blur Layers “1” and “2” (you have to do this separate times) BUT the radius for these two layers is 10. And lastly you blur layer “3” with a radius of 15.
8.Now you click and drag the elliptical marque tool (M) and drag it around your circle so that it fits around your circle pretty good. You will know you have selected the tool because you will see dotted lines like ants around your circle. Once you have the dotted lines around your circle go to the top of you screen and click Select>Invers then on your keyboard press the delete button. This will take away all the extra blur.
9.Now you will select the circle tool and make an oval in the shape of a shadow on the bottom left hand corner. You will apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of 5. And no you will make a small yellow (in this case) circle in the top right hand corner of the sphere you will then apply a Gaussian blur with a radius of 10.
10.Now you will apply a gradient to the background so that there is yellow in one of the top corners. You do this by selecting the gradient tool (G) and go to the top of the screen a choose a blue to yellow gradient or a yellow to blue gradient. If you do not have that option then go to the bottom and select a yellow then press the arrow button and select a blue. You then apply the gradient by dragging the gradient tool from the corner of your square to anywhere (be sure to have the highlight which is your yellow circle on the same side of the light source).
11.Lastly! You select the brush tool (b) and then go to the top of the screen and select the brush down arrow. You will choose the one blade of grass. If your Table (rectangle on the bottom third) is not already green then make sure it is green or brown. You then drag the grass around on top of your ground of table to make a field. REMEMBER TO SAVE!!!!
Ice Cream Cone Tutorial
1. Open new file 5×5 resolution 150. Name this Ice Cream.
2. Fill background with a light blue color. Create a new shape using the shape tool and make this a light pink. Don’t forget to rasterize!
3. Next create three circles. Two of them should be white and the other should be light pink. Rasterize all circles!
4. Next you need to make sure your pink circle is above the other circles in your layers, and then place the two white circles directly behind the pink circle.
5. Now you need to merge the white circles. Make sure you are on one of the white circle layers. You need to click on the layer while holding shift, then click on the other white circle layer. Now you need to right click and select merge. They are now one layer.
6. Next you need to select the white circles and hit delete on your keyboard. To see what you have done you can hide the pink circle. Great Job!
7. At this point save your work. Next you need to duplicate your pink circle three times naming them in order 3, 2, 1. Fill in number three with a darker shade of the pink. Resize it so it could fit between the 6-9 if it where a clock. In your layers change the opacity of this circle to 75%
8. Now you need to resize circle2 so it is a bit larger than number 3. Fill it in with the same dark pink color and change the opacity to 50%. Repeat this with circle 1 so it is slightly larger than 2 but change the opacity to 25%.
9. Next you need to apply a gaussian blur to circles 1, 2, and 3 and to your white outline.
3-Radius of 15
1 and 2-Radius of 10
White Outline- Radius of 5
This would be a good time to save your work.
10. Great Job. Now you need to merge every layer besides the background and the ground. Remember to click on the layers while holding shift then right click and select merge.
11. Now to remove the excess blurring you can select the elliptical marquee tool and create a dotted circle around the new circle you have created. Then go up to the top of the screen and click on select then click on inverse. Now you need to click delete on the keyboard. To remove the moving lines hit CTRL D.
12. Next you need to create a tan colored rectangle. Rasterize it then click Ctrl T and right click to select warp. Transform this shape into an ice cream cone figure. To make this look even more like an ice cream cone, you need to create an x pattern and apply it all over the ice cream cone.
13. You are almost done! Now you just need to set the circle on top of the cone. Then you need to select the ground layer then click on it using the magic wand tool. You then need to apply a gradient that is pink and light blue to the ground to make it look like a table cloth. Great job now you just need to save your work!
Black and White Sphere
1. Make a new file 5 in by 5in and resolution 150. Then make your background black. Using the shape tool, create a grey rectangle in the bottom third of the background (don’t forget to rasterize the layer).
2. Now create three circles of the same size, one being grey and two being white (don’t forget to rasterize each layer. Now make sure that the grey circle layer is on the top of the layers. Make sure that one of the white circle layers is highlighted. Using the arrow keys on the keypad, move the white circles over each other. But make sure you don’t put the white circles completely over each other. You want one to go up or down so it looks like almost an oval. Go back to one of the white circle layers and hold down the shift button and click on the other white circle. Once both layers are highlighted click Ctrl E to emerge the layers. Then go back to the grey circle layer and use the magic wand tool on the grey circle (you will see moving lines. Then go back to the white outline layer (which you should have renamed it to) and click Delete on the key board. *If you want to make sure everything is alright, hide the grey circle layer and it should look like a white outline on the background. Press Ctrl S.
3. Duplicate the grey circle three times and name them 1,2 and 3. The order of the layers should be the white outline, then 3, then 2, then 1 and so on. Make the opacity of 3 to 75% then to 2 50% and 1 25%. Fill in each layer with black. Press Ctrl S
4. Put a Gaussian blur of 10 on 1 and 2, a blur of 15 on 3 and a blur of 5 on the white outline.
5. Next emerge all of the layers except for the background and the rectangle (shape 1). If the White outline blur is messy and on the outside of the circle, use the second tool down and make a circle as big as the sphere. Then click select>inverse and press delete on the key board.
6. Move the sphere partly over the grey rectangle and the background. Click Ctrl S to save.
7. Create an oval using the shape tool and color it black using the paint tool (don’t forget to rasterize the layer). Put a Gaussian blur of 5% on it. Make sure the layer is behind the sphere, if not put the layer under the sphere layer.
8. Add a LITTLE white circle using the shape tool (in the top right corner). Put a Gaussian blur of 10% on it.
9. *MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE RECTANGLE LAYER. Set the foreground color to black and the background color to white. Use the magic wand tool on the rectangle and use the gradient tool and drag it across the rectangle. It should look like it’s going from black to white.
10. Lastly, make sure you’re on the background layer and use the gradient tool on the background. It should be black in the left bottom and white in the top right hand corner. Press Ctrl S.
Creating a Sphere-Like Shape.
1) Open up Photoshop and create a new file: 5 by 5 (inches) with a resolution of 150. Title it Sphere-Like Shape.
2) Fill in your background with any color or pattern you chose using the paint bucket tool Make a rectangle at the bottom of your background using the shape tool. Make it cover the bottom 3rd of your background. .
3) Select the shape tool and make three circles, one dark blue and the other two white, since today, we are making a blueberry. (Note: One of the shapes must be a darker color, and the others must be a lighter color.) Rasterize!
4) Merge the two light colored layers together. Then select the darker colored circle with the magic want tool. Then click on the white circle in your layers. Hit delete and rename the outline: White Outline. Bring the white outline above your Shape 1 layer.
5) Then make a copy of the Shape 1 a total of three times. Name them: 3, 2 and 1. Rasterize!
6) Resize 3, 2 and 1:
7) 3 should be on the top of all of your layers. Resize it so (if your sphere was a clock) it would be between 6 and 9. Set its opacity to 75%, and fill it in with a very dark blue.
8) 2 should be between 3 and 1. Resize it so that it is a bit bigger than 3. Set its opacity to 50% and make it just a little bit lighter than 3.
9) 1 should be below 2. Resize it so it is a bit bigger than 2. Set its opacity to 25% and make it just a little bit lighter than 2.
10) Apply a Gaussian Blur of 10 to layers 1 and 2, 15 to layer 3, and 5 to the white outline.
11) Go ahead and merge all of your layers together except the background and the rectangle. Rename the merged layers “Sphere.”
12) Move you’re Sphere down so that it looks as if it is sitting on your rectangle. (If you are
making a planet, you don’t have to do this.)
13) Is there a blur around the outside of your sphere? Go ahead and select the Elliptical Marquee tool and make a dotted circle around your sphere. Then go to Select and click Inverse. Then hit delete! Ta Da! They are gone!
14) Now you need to make a highlight on your sphere. Go ahead and make a small white circle using the shape tool. (Make sure it is in the top right hand corner of your sphere for this project.) Then apply a Gaussian Blur of 15 to the circle. Remember to rasterize before you apply the blur!
15) Now you have created the basic steps for your blue berry! Go ahead and experiment!
Snow Man Tutorial By: Parker Gilmore
1.) Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150 Name this snowman.
2.) Using the paint bucket tool fill in the backround with the color light blue
3.) Next create the ground or a rectangle using the shape tool be sure to make it light grey and rasterize
4.) Next create a white cricle using the shape tool and go over to the layers section and duplicate the layer two times. BE SUER TO RASTERIZE ALL THREE WHITE CIRCLES.
5.) Next, move the three shapes on top of each other with their bottoms barely toching using the move tool at the top of the page.
6.) Step six is basicly adding eyes a mouth and a nose. First go to the shape tool and make a small black circle. Duplicate the layer and move each black eyeball to the white circle on the top. Next make a small orange rectangle and move it to the middle of the top white circle. And lastly create a very small black rectangle for the mouth and move it to the bottom of the top white circle. BE SURE TO RASTERIZE ALL OF THE LAYERS YOU JUST MADE.
7.) Now merge layers shape5, shape4, shape3 copy, shape3, and shape2 copy. This is now your head of your snow man.
8.) Now it is time for the arms. Go to the shapes tool and create a brown rectangle be sure to make it skinny because its an arm! Once you have done this duplicate it and rasterize them both.
9.) Now move both of the arms to the middle white circle. It should be starting to look like a snow man!
10.) The last step to this tutorial is making three black buttons. Make these buttons the same way you did with the eyeballs ecxept make on more and place them down the snow mans body. BE SURE TO MERGE THEM AND RASTERIZE THEM.
Congradulations you have finished.
Ten Step Sphere Tutorial
1.) Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150
2.) Using the paint bucket tool fill in the background with the color blue.
3.) Next create the ground with the rectangle tool rename the layer GROUND, be sure to make it white and RASTERIZE.
4.) Next create a white circle using the shape tool. Then duplicate the layer two times. You should have three white circles now. Rename one of the circles 1 and the other two. REMEMBER TO RASTERIZE ALL THREE CIRCLES.
5.) Then place all the circles vertically on top of each other.
6.) Use the paint bucket tool to color in the middle circle red. Be sure you click on the layer of the shape that you are coloring in before you color in the shape.
7.) Then using the shape tool make two SMALL black circles. Put them on top of the first circle. Once you have done that create one SMALLER circle and make it the color red and place it under the two black circles. This will be the nose. REMEMBER TO RASTERIZE.
8.) Using the rectangle tool make a SMALL rectangle and make it black. REMEMBER TO RASTERIZE and place the black rectangle under the red nose.
9.) Now it is time for the arms. Go to the shape tool and make two medium size red arms. And place them on the sides of the middle red circle. Once you have done that use the paint bucket tool to color in the bottom circle.
10.) The last step is using the shape tool create 3 small black circles. REMEMBER TO RASTERIZE. Once you have done that move them into the middle circle and place them horizontally on top of each other.

Eyeball Tutorial
Kyle Howe
1. Create a new 5*5 150 resolution document. Name this Eyeball. Take the paint bucket tool and make the background black. After this you should set up a gray rectangle near the bottom of the screen. You should now have what i call your scenery set up. (RASTERIZE ALL LAYERS!!)
2. Use the shape tool U to create three new circles. Two should be white one should be gray. After this position the two white circles behind the gray circle just above and below of the gray circle.
3. Now take the circle tool again and create a small black circle in the middle of the gray circle. Then create a smaller white circle in the middle of the black circle. After this make one more black circle in the middle of the white circle. (RASTERIZE)
4. Now take the custom shape tool. Your shape that you should select from the top is a small ring. Use this shape to create a black ring around the small black circle inside of the white circle. This ring should look like an oval.
5. So far so good, now merge all of the white layers together. Name that layer white. Put a gaussian blur to this layer. It should have a radius of 10. Now put a 5 radius blur to all of the other layers except for your scenery. You should now have something that looks like an eyeball.
6. You can now merge all of these layers together, except for your scenery. Now that you have merge your layers move them down to the bottom middle on the gray rectangle layer. You can always rename your layers to your liking in this tutorial.
7. Now hit Control+T. You should now see a box around your circle shape. Make sure you are on the correct layer. Right click and press rotate. You can now rotate your shape 90 degrees.
8. Almost their! Go to your eyeball layer and right click on it. Go to blending properties and select shadow. You will need to position this shadow to the left of your eyeball.
9. Put a Gaussian blur of ten to your shadow. If you cannot do this select the blur tool and blur the shadow.
10. Select your background layer and put a simple black to white gradient.
11. Select your gray rectangle layer and do the same thing.
12. BEHOLD THE EYEBALL
The Picnic Plate
1. You must create a new file 5 by 5 at 150.
2. Then you must click on the costume shape tool and select the checker board looking one make it fit the whole page. (Don’t forget to rasterize) and change all the squares to a color and merge that and the background.
3. Next you must create an orange circle and you must duplicate that layer twice turning those to other orange circles into white circles. (Don’t forget to rasterize!!!)
4. Now you must position the two white circles behind the orange so they look like a border, and then merge those two together.
5. Now using the magic wand tool click on the orange circle, and the on your layers click the white outline and on the key board click delete.
6. Then duplicating the orange circle again three more times labeling the one under the white outline 3 then the second one 2 and the third one 1, you should now have a total of seven layers including the background.
7. Now change all of the layers 1-3 into a dark orange. Then change:
• layer 3’s opacity to 75%
• layer 2’s opacity to 50%
• layer 1’s opacity to 25%
8. After you have completed that we are going to give everything blur:
• Layers 1 & 2 get a Gaussian blur of 10
• The white outline layer get a Gaussian blur of 5
• Layer 3 gets a Gaussian blur of 15
You also have to merge all of the layers except the circle
9. Using the Marquee tool gets rid of the extra blur.
10. Next create a small lit orange circle and give it a Gaussian blur of 5, and position it in the right top corner of the sphere.
11. Now create a black circle that looks like a shadow and give it a Gaussian blur of 5.
12. Position the shadow under the circle in your layers.
13. You should now have five layers. If you do you have now create an orange on a picnic table!!!
• Apply light blue to the background using the paint bucket tool (G)
• Then select the paint brush tool (Y) and click on the box that says Oil Medium Wet Flow. Make sure that is 162 px. Apply it to the upper area to make clouds.
• Select the shape tool (U) and make a dark blue rectangle. This shape should cover about 1/5 of the background . Once you have done that you have to rasterize it.
• Then you select the shape tool and make a yellow circle. You have to rasterize it and then you duplicate the yellow shape 3 times and name them 1,2,3 and put them in order like this: 3,2,1
• Select shape 3 and fill it in with yellow and change the opacity to 75%.
• Select shape 2 and fill it in with yellow and change the opacity to 50%
• Select shape 1, fill it in with yellow, and change the opacity to 25%
• Apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 10 to layers 1and 2. Also apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 15 to layer 3.
• Select the move tool and move the yellow object to the upper right hand corner but adjust so that you can still see it.
• You have just made a BEACH SCENE!!!!!

3. Put the two white circles together and merge. Add the red one in the middle.
5. Select the red circle switch to the merged whitecircles layer and press delete.
4. Make 3 copies of the red circle. Pick a darker color, similar to red and fill copy one with it ( 25% opasity ) and apply gausian blur 14.Fill copy 2 with 50%, copy 1 with 75% and apply gausian blur 10 to both. Apply gausian blur 4 to the white outline.
6. Add a white dot.and merge all layers but the branch.
7. Create a goldish colored oval that is about twice as wide as it is tall.
8. Make one of the ovals slightly darker than the other one.
9. Create a rectangle that is the same color as the dark oval , as wide as the ovals and three times as tall as them .
10. Align the rectangle with the dark oval so that it looks like the rectangle has a curved edge.
11. Using the magic wand tool , select the rectangle and the oval together and apply a gradient from white to the color that they already had. ( make sure that the white goes on the same side that the white dot is )
12. align the remaining oval with the oval- rectangle shape that you just created.
13. With CTRL+T adjust your shape to fit nicely on top of the red ball.
14. Merge all layers but the picture of the branch.
15. Move the shape in a good spot under the branch.
16. Create a white line that connects the gold shape with the branch.
Voila! you”ve got a christmas tree ornament.
******Tip: instead of a branch you could use an entire tree and duplicate the ornament many times.*************************************************************************************************
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution: 150

13. Now reset the opacity of these circles like this. 3’s opacity will be set to 75%, 2’s opacity will be set to 50%, and 1’s opacity will be set to 25%. After that resize 3 so that it is in the bottom left corner of the orange circle (Control+T). 2 will be resized so that it is slightly bigger than 3 and 1 will be resized so that it is slightly bigger than 2.
14. Now move the brown outline above the orange circle in you layers and resize it so it will fit inside your orange circle.
15. Now apply a Gaussian Blur to 1, 2, 3, and the brown outline (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur). Apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 5 to the brown out line, apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 10 to 1 and 2, and apply a Gaussian Blur with a radius of 15 to 3.
16. Now merge Layers 3, 2, 1, brown outline, and the orange circle together.
17. Name this new Layer “Armadillo”.
18. Now use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to select “Armadillo”.
19. Select the inverse of the Armadillo and hit delete on your keyboard.
20. Now use the move Tool and move your Armadillo to the ground.
21. Now use the eraser tool(E) to erase the bottom half of your Armadillo
22. Now apply a burlap texture with a scaling of 50% to your “Armadillo”. (Filter>Texture>texturizer>change from canvas to burlap in drop-down window.)
23. Now let’s create the Armadillo’s head. Use the shape tool to create a rectangle shape near one end of the armadillo. Then, create an oval on top of the rectangle. After that, duplicate the oval and make the other ear.
24. Merge the three head layers.
25. Now apply a burlap texture to the head layer with a scaling of 50%.
26. Merge the head layers and the armadillo. Make sure that the three head layers are underneath your armadillo.
27. Now create an oval at the bottom of the armadillo to create one foot. Then, duplicate the foot three types to create the other feet.
28. Move the three other feet to their positions.
29. Now create three new black circles for the mouth and eyes. Position them and you are done!
Cotton Candy Sphere
1. Make a new file 5×5 resolution 150.
2. Make the background a hot pink color.
3. Take the rectangle tool and make a light blue rectangle over the bottom third of the file (don’t forget to rasterize!)
4. The take the circle tool and make three equal circles (rasterize!) Make two of them white and one light blue.
5. In you layers, move the blue square above the two white white circles.
6. Place the 2 white circles behind the blue circle to create a white outline.
7. Once that is completed, merge the 2 white circles. (select the first white circle in you layers, hold down shift and click the second circle until both are highlighted in blue, the hit control E.)
8. Rename the layer white outline and the blue circle Blue.
9. Then you are going to duplicate the blue circle layer three times. Name these layer 1,2, & 3
10. On layer 3, fill it in with black and change the opacity to 75%. Then shrink it so it is in the left hand corner of the sphere.
11. Fill in layer 2 with black and change the opacity to 50% and shrink it so it is just a little bit larger than layer 3.
12. Fill in layer 1 with black and change the opacity to 25% and shrink it is a little bigger than layer 2.
13. Resize the white outline so it is perfectly around the sphere.
14. Now apply a filter, blur gassian to every layer except background, shape 1, and blue circle
White outline: Radius of 5.
1&2: Radius of 10
3: Radius of 15
15. After you have applied the blurs, move the white outline layer down in your layers so it is just above your blue circle layer.
16. Merge all of your layers except the background and shape 1. (select layer 3, hold down shift the select all the other layers you are supposed to until they are blue, the hit control E.)
17. Then move your shape down so i sits on your rectangle. (If you notice some blur outside your shape, select the Elliptical Marquee tool and put the dotted lines over you sphere. Then hit select inverse, then delete.
18. Then select the shape tool and make a black oval, (rasterize!) Place the black shape layer underneath the blue circle. (Done in your layers) Then give the black oval a gassian blur, radius of 5.
19. For the highlight, select the circle tool and make a small white circle in the top right hand corner of the circle. Place this above you blue circle, (in layers) give it a gassian blur, radius of 10.
20. After you have successfully completed those steps, you have to apply a gradient. Select the shape one layer and select it with the magic wand tool. Then apply a pink and blue gradient, drag from left to right.
21. Then select the background layer with the magic wand tool and do the same. This time however, start at the black shadow and move it up to the right corner.
22. Then, BEHOLD THE SPHERE!!!!!!!!!!
These are the instructions to make a dog out of a sphere.
1. Create a new file, 5 by 5 inches, resolution 150.
2. Fill in the background with the color of your choice.
3. Using the shape tool create a green rectangle at the bottom of the screen taking up 1/3 of the box. Make sure you rasterize this.
4. Using the shape tool again, create three circles. You can make this one of two ways, by using the shape tool to create three circles or duplicating. Make sure you rasterize these.
5. Make one circle grey and the other two circles white.
6. Make sure the grey circle is ON TOP of the white circles. Using the arrow keys, make the white circle make a small outline right around the grey circle. When these are in proportion, you need to merge them. Hit one white circle then hold shift and hit the other one in your layers. Then use the control key, CTRL+E.
7. In your layers, hit the grey circle. Put it in the magic wand and select the grey circle. Then in your layers, hit the white outline. You should still see the moving lines on the grey circle. Then, hit delete. Hide your layer to view the outline that you have just made.
8. Duplicate the grey circle three times. Rasterize these layers. Name the circle on top 3, then 2, then 1. Name the grey circle, “grey circle” and white outline, “white outline.”
9. Color in all the duplicate circles (3,2,1) with black. Resize circle three and make the opacity 75. Resize number 2 so it is just bigger than number 3 and make the opacity 50. Resize number 3 just bigger than number 2 and make the opacity 25.
10. Make the white outline>Gaussian blur-15. Make circle 3>Gaussian blur-15. Make circle 1 and 2> Gaussian blur-10. When you have blurred all of you shapes it should slightly resemble a sphere. You need to merge circle 1,2, and 3, the grey circle, and the white outline.
11. After you merge these, move the circle down onto Shape 1, or the ground. Take the elliptical marquee tool and circle the sphere in the area THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP. Then go up to select and hit inverse. The moving lines should be moving around the sphere and the box! Now, hit delete.
12. Now that you have a basic sphere, it is time to make a dog!!! Duplicate this sphere 5 times. Resize the sphere into a dogs head.
13. Taking the second sphere copy, make a body. Hit CTRL+T to warp it and create the body how you like it.
14. Then take sphere 3 and create 1 leg. Make this one a hind leg. Duplicate this leg three times and move them into the screen. Make two legs slightly smaller than the other two. The two big legs will be in front. This is the pattern: BIG,LITTLE,BIG,LITTLE. This will give you four legs.
15. Then take sphere 4 and create and ear. Duplicate it once then hit CTRL+T. Hit Rotate 90 degrees twice, until it is a reflection of the other ear. Place this next to the head.
16. Take sphere 5 and create a tail. Place it on the dogs butt and position it how you like it. You can use CTRL+T to make it certain ways.
17. For all of the dogs body parts, go up to filter, then liquefy. Say you are on the dogs head. When you click liquefy, a new window will show up. Click and pull on the dogs head. You will notice hair like pieces coming off of the head. This will make the dog realistic. (DO NOT TOUCH OTHER SETTINGS!)
18. After you make the dog create a gradient for the BLUE background. Start white, then go up to blue.
19. For the green ground you are going to turn this into grass. First go up to noise. Hit, “ADD NOISE” and add 30% of noise. Then go to Gaussian blur and add a blue of 0.9 in radius. Then go to stylize and hit WIND. Then, when a new window pops up click STAGGER! Position of your choice form left to right or right to left.
20. Go to the paint brush and scroll down in the items. Find the one that looks like ONE blade of grass. Paint that across the top of the green shape and you will have grass. In the top corner of the painting you can a sun or something else.
21. Behold! The dog, sphere like, thingy!!!!!!
1. Create a new file 5 by 5 at 150.
2. Make the background a sky blue.
3. Create three circles, two white, one yellow.
4. Put the two white circles behind the yellow one, but make sure the white circles are slightly above and below the yellow circle, just like an outline. Using the “T” and the down arrows will help make the white circles be a great outline.
5. Merge the two white circles, than click on the yellow circle and select the magic wand tool. After that you need to click on the merged layer and hit delete. Rename the merged layer white outline.
6. Duplicate the yellow circle and rename them 3,2,1.
7. On layer 3, the highest one up, just below the white outline layer, you need to do a small, dark orange circle on the left hand side in the corner with a opacity of 75%. On layer 2, right below layer 3, do a circle a little bit bigger and a little lighter than layer 3. Make the opacity 50%. On layer 1, right below layer 2, make a bigger circle than the previous one and make it a little lighter. Make the opacity 25%.
8. So far, if you have done this correctly you should have 6 layers including the background.
9. Re size the white outline to fit inside the yellow, orange circle you have created.
10. Now apply a Gaussian blur to the layers. Layers 1&2 have a Gaussian blur with a radius of ten. On layer 3 have a Gaussian blur with a radius of 15. On the white outline have a Gaussian blur with a radius of 5.
11. Move the white outline layer above the circle. From top to bottom the order of layers should be 3, 2, 1 ,white outline, circle, background.
12. Merge all layers except the background and rename it sphere.
13. Select the elliptical marquee tool and make it go around the sphere and then go to select and inverse, than hit delete. This will get rid of unnecessary blurred parts on the outside of your sphere.
14. Create a small white circle in the top, right hand corner of your sphere and put a Gaussian blur with a radius of 10 on it.
15. Create a skinny rectangle, yellow in color. Hit control “T” and right click and skew the shape so it looks more slanted. Make it the length and thickness you would like.
16. Do that as many times as you need until the sphere is transformed into a sun. You will have to keep creating different rectangles and skewing them in different ways to create the sun. When you skew you are making different slants and you will place the slanted lines around the shape and keep resizing the lines however you would like. Make sure the lines are under the sphere because they need to fall under the shape not over it. So have the sphere be the highest layer and the lines be the layers under the sphere.
17. Place a Gaussian Blur on all of the lines with a radius of 5.
18. After your sun is created place it in the center of the background. You also could place it in the corner if you wanted.
19. Put a gradient of different sky blues on the background. Complete this step however you would like.
20. There is your creative, abstract, sun.
1. make a new document 5 by 5 resolution 150.
2. color in the background bland and make a grey rectangle ⅓ of the page.
3. create 3 circle 1 should be grey ,2 should white.
4. then razterize everything.
5.Then move the white circle behind each other and put the grey circle on top of them.
6. merge the white circles together.
7. make 3 new grey circle then paint them black.
8.make the top one oppacity 15% then resize it very small.
9. the next turn oppacity to 35% and resize just bigger than the small circle.
10. The one after those two turn it’s oppacity to 55%
11. give the small circle a gaussin blur of 10.
12. Give the other a gaussin blur of 15.
13. use the elliptical marque tool and make a dotted circle around the sphere. Hit select inverse then click delete.
How to Make a Planet
1. Create a new file at 5 by 5 at 150
2. Choose any back round color you want except red, or white.
3. Create three circles one red and the other two white. RASTERIZE!!!!!!
4. Place the two white circles behind the red circle with it barely sticking out of the top like this
5. Merge the two white circles and name it “white outline”
6. The use the magic wand tool to select the red circle (make sure you have the layer selected) and then click the white out line layer and click delete. This will create you outline.
7. The duplicate the red circle three times. Name one of them 1, the other one 2, and the last one 3
8. Then for the layer 3 set the opacity to 75 and using the paint bucket tool fill it in black. Resize like this.
9. The for two set the opacity to 50 and resize it like you did for layer 3 but make it bigger.
10. For layer 1 set the opacity to 25 fill it in with black and resize it like the 2 layer but bigger. ( make sure you can still see the red circle)
11. You should now have a circle like this
now you want to click on the white outline layer. Hit ctrl+t and resize it just in side the circle like this (use arrow keys to move)
12. Then you have to add a Gaussian blur of this
White out line= 5
Layer 3= 15
Layer 2=10
Layer 1=10
13. Your circle know should look like this
If there is and blur outside of the circle use the elliptical marquee tool
14. Now that you have your circle merges all the layers together except the back round.
15. Then you have to make another outline so get a green circle and make it bigger than the circle you have just created. (make sure that the green circle is behind the red circle. Don’t forget to rasterize)
16. Use the magic wand tool and select the red circle (You have to press and hold down shift and keep clicking till you have the entire circle selected or else it won’t work)and then click on the green circles layer and press delete.
17. This creates and out line. Know click on the green circle layer and press ctrl+t. Right click in the square that pops up and chose distort. The shape it like this
18. The click enter and click ctrl+t again and rotate it like this
19. The select it with the wand tool and erase the part that is on the circle using the erase tool. Once your done it should look like this
20. Now you can fool around with the back round because you just created a planet.
TO Create a Color Sphere.
(REMEBER SAVE OFTEN!!) Ctrl +S.
Step 1.Make a new file, 5 by 5, resolution 150. Name this file Color SPhere.
Step 2.Use the paint bucket (G) and fill the backround any color of your choosing.
Step 3.Use the shape tool (U) make a rectangle 1/3 down.(Remeber to Rasterize.)
Step 4.Create three cirlces. One should be a different color of the other two. (Remeber to Rasterize)
Step 5.In your layers postion the two circles that are the same color behind the solo color circle layer.
Move one of the duo color cirlces slightly upand the other slightly down.( Arrow Keys) Merge the duo.
(shift>select both layers>control E to merge.
Step 6.Select the magic wand tool and click the solo circle.Make sure the dotted line is around the solo circle.Click the
layer with your two circles
and hit delete.(Hide the layer of the solo circle to see the outline)
Step 7.Move the duo layer( layer with the two cicles merged.) Infront of the solo circle.
Step 8.Duplicate the solo circle three times.( Name them 1,2,3.)
Step 9.On layer “3” fill the cicle with black, and change the opacity to 75, and resize it to the bottom left coner of
the solo circle. ( to resize a layer ctrl + t).Then do the same to “2”, but the opacity should be 50%
and when you resize it a little buit more then “3”. Now do it again for layer “1” but opacity should
be 25% and resize it more than layer “2”. Resize the layer with the 2 circles just enough to fit in the circle.
Step 10. Now we apply a Gaussian Blur to every layer but the background and the rectangle.
white outline-radius 5
1&2- radius 10]
3- a radius of 15.
Merge all layers except the circle, rectangle and the background.Move the cicle layer down and postion on the rectangle.
1. Open up a new file, 5” X 5”, resolution 150. The name of this file should be snowman.
2. Use the Paint Bucket Tool (G) and fill in the background with the color light blue.
3. Use the shape tool (U), and create and white rectangle (make sure to rasterize!)
4. Save your work.
5. Create one new circle using the shape tool (U). It should be white.
6. Okay, now you are going to duplicate the white circle layer three times, and re-name each layer “1”, “2”, and “3”.
7. On layer “3” you will fill the circle in with the color gray. One you have done that, reset the Opacity on that layer to 75% and resize it to fit just in the bottom left hand corner. The circle will hang of a little. That is okay.
8. Save your work.
9. Fill in layer “2” with the same gray color as the “3” circle. Reset the Opacity to 50% and re-size it so it is just a little bit bigger that circle “3”
10. Fill in layer “1” with the same gray color and reset the Opacity to 25% and re-size so that is just a little bit bigger that circle “2”
11. Now apply a Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur to EVERY layer, except the white circle, the white rectangle and the light blue background layer. Here are the Gaussian Blur>radius settings for each layer:
a. Circles “1” and “2” (Gaussian Blur>Radius: 10)
b. “3” (Gaussian Blur>Radius: 15)
*Once you have applied the appropriate blurs, move the White Outline layer down (in your layers, so that is sets just above the gray circle layer.)
12. Save your work
13. Now merge all layers except for the gray circle, Shape 1 (the white rectangle), and Background (the light blue background layer.) To merge, select “3”, hold the Shift button down and click on your “2”, “1” and white circle layers, let go and click Control E to merge. Rename the new layer “Circle.”
14. Now move the Circle layer down so that is positioned on the snow or “Shape 1” layer.
15. You may notice that some of the blurred circles come out of the circle shape, and into the outside space. Don’t worry. Simply select the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and click and drag a circle shape (which will have dotted lines) over your sphere. Once you have created a circle over your sphere, go to the top of your screen and click on Select>Inverse and click Delete (on your keyboard. This action will get rid of any excess blurred images that may be outside of your sphere.
16. Save your work
17. Rename your sphere bottom.
18. Now that you have done that, go to your layers and right click on your Sphere layer. Click “duplicate layer” and rename it middle. Duplicate your sphere named “middle” and rename it “top.”
19. Now go to the Move Tool (V), select the layer you want to move and move click and drag on your spheres “middle” and “top” and place them so they are on top of each other so it looks like a snowman to you.
20. Once you have done that, make the middle layer just a little bit smaller than your bottom sphere. Do the same thing with the top; the top should be the smallest layer.
21. Now once it looks like the shape of a snowman follow steps 5-15 only make a red sphere. This will be one of his buttons.
22. Follow steps 5-15 again and make your sphere green. This will also be a button.
23. Duplicate your buttons until you have two green buttons. Do the same thing with the red only make three of them. Place them on your snowman so they look like buttons.
24. Make two black circles and make them his eyes.
25. Make as many dark brown circles as you want and shape them into being a mouth.
26. Then make a nose by making an orange circle and warping it. To warp it, you select the layer and right click on it in your picture and click warp. Make it look like a carrot.
27. Now make a brown line, a go to “Filter” then “Liquify” and make your line look like a stick or an arm for your snowman. Do the same thing on the other side.
28. If you would like, you can add snowflakes by going to the brush tool and selecting your brush diameter and choose whatever you would like.
29. And you have a snowman!
Here is a very helpful link for people who seriously do NOT understand how to use the pen tool (Like Me) It has a lot of description and guides you through every step:
